Has Mr. Waxman ever done anything but occupy a public office? I am so sick and tired of "career time" politicians. The longer they are politicians, the more they seem to lie and sell out the American People. I doubt if most of them would survice in the private sector.

A MUST-READ: "Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism" by Michelle Goldberg (2006), NY: W.W. Norton.
There is NO proposal for a government take-over of health care. I am a military veteran and my government-run VA system serves me very very well. President Obama WANTS the private insurance companies to continue and prosper (we have 1200 of them in the U.S.), but he also doesn't want them to work against the good of the U.S. economy or the people they are supposed to serve, so he is proposing modest regulations (no refusal for pre-existing conditions, no refusal to pay for treatments a patient's doctor recommends, stuff like this. The insurance industry spends $60BILLION every year to find ways to deny claims just to increase their profit margins---they are the villains in this effort to reform. Read website: Lee Fang July 31st 2009 (article exposing FreedomWorks'and Americans for Prosperity's ties to big oil/fatcat insurance lobbyists (DLA Piper for Dick Armey, serving Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirate; Koch Family Foundation (oil industrialists) for Tim Phillips, who provides buses and scripts for the fake "protest" groups. Newt Gingrich (ASWF) provides "took kits" of "talking points". http://thinkprogress.org/2009/04/09/lobb...

I used to trust our government, but now I don't. Keep government out of our lives. Every government program spends too much, accomplishes little, going broke, and high taxes. I see the Democrat Congress leaning towards a Socialist system. This is the United States of America, not the United States of Europe. "FREEDOM" not "Freebees" is what made this country great.

It's weird that those who want a welfare state are used to getting a check already. One of the easiest and obvious hints are the barely literate writings. Yes, oh YES, vilify education and the desire to get ahead. Most Americans who WORK and support a family DO NOT want a welfare state. As we can see from the obvious statements in these comments. Those who do not strive for education and a future willingly accept the dregs offered to them and only want to be GIVEN more. Those who have been raised to succeed and WORK to better themselves do not want the government to hand them a DARN thing.
STRIVE TO SUCCEED AND YOUR DESIRES WILL BE ANSWERED.
ACCEPT HANDOUTS AND YOU RECEIVE WHAT NO ONE ELSE DESIRES.

Henry Waxman is a great American. He has always conducted his political life and made decisions and votes based on 'doing the right thing" to steal a line from Spike Lee, rather than to toady up to campaign donors or figure out which way the wind blows. In short, he is a very moralistic man. He learned right from wrong as a kid and has consistently conducted his life in a honorable way. When you stack him up against the likes of Palin, Armey, Delay, Bush, Gingritch, Boenher and their destructive, self-serving ways, he comes off as a tower of integrity and an honest and decent human being. It is a shame more Americans don't know who this great guy is.

We need to change EVERYONE in Congress or we will have nothing left. We are already so far in the hole we may never get out. These morons have given us a $100 trillion future liability with Medicade, Social Security prepaid drugs and other programs that is already ridiculous. Let's pile on more!!! These people live in a different world, one without responsibility. They can not balance their own checkbooks much less that of our nation. I feel we are doomed because the electorate is made up of people that disapprove congress but they keep sending their representatives back, thinking it is everyone else's that is bad...Wake-up

I have long been a fan of Henry Waxman. He is one of the few in our government who doesn't seek out notoriety, and who works steadfastly to bring people together. He has succeeded in doing so many times in order to get legislation passed that benefits all of us. I am proud to have such a person in our government. He is definitelly one I trust.

I guess a reform that removed the income to the big drug/pill makers and privat hospitals wont ever happen, and those that complain the most when someone actually r trying to make things better never stop complaining/whining...and they are mostly high profile politicians-they dont know the word sacrifice.
Oh and I almost forgot about the insurance companies, hell if they are any better!
Welfare or something similar to welfare is what America need today, get rid of the old fashion and "benefits only those that already have alot" way.I know it aint done overnite, but i wish someone had the guts to stand up and say "hey"...lets change things!
That someone would have to be a high profile politician, maybe a "Jimmy Hoffa"-anno 2009,but still.
The president cannot change everything alone,he need co-changers,or whatever you all wanna label them.
