Palin Spars With Critics Over Ethics Complaints

June 22, 2009 RSS Feed Print

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—A national campaign fueled by a conservative Web site is helping Gov. Sarah Palin with the expense of legal fees she has run up defending herself against ethics complaints.

The campaign brought in more than $100,000 to the defense fund, called the Alaska Fund Trust, in the past week.

A formal "webathon" fundraiser wrapped up Sunday night but Conservatives4Palin says it will continue publicizing the effort with a goal of raising $500,000.

Palin in March said her legal debts had climbed past $500,000.

Kristan Cole, the trustee for the legal defense fund, says it's her sense that the bills now exceed $600,000.

Palin supporters call the attacks frivolous.

Patriot act. Death tax. Alaska Fund Trust.

Every name they give something is a lie on a stick."

This is not just a Replublican/Conservatives problem. How do you explain ACLU? American Civil Liberties?! The most liberal, anti-American, false, pretentious organization in America today. This also happens to be the name liberals gave which happens to also be, as you state, "a lie on a stick." I agree with JMAC of AZ premise that these funds could have more difinitive titles and that those who contribute hard earned dollars should at least do some cursory research. Those who chose to contribute fine, those who don't, fine. I see the article as a non issue. Those who feel so strongly about this would/should be vitriolic about campaign financing reforms. But you don't hear about campaign finance issues until the next go-around.

Re: Muser

Take 2 seconds and read the first line of the Alaska Trust Fund website...

"The Alaska Fund Trust is the official legal fund created to defend the integrity of the Alaska Governor's Office from an onslaught of political attacks launched against current Governor Sarah Palin, the First Family, and state-employed colleagues."

Pretty obvious, isn't it? Feel like you might accidentally send your money there?

These funds are very common. Remember Charlie Ya Lin Trie running the Clintons "Trust Fund" to legally defend the Clintons' from the Whitewater scam and Paula Jones back in 1997? Sure these funds are bizzare, but it has nothing to do with left/right.

That is the problem with people like you. It isn't a conservative or liberal issue, its an issue with people that just hate everything and feel the need to comment online without spending a few seconds to read some facts before opening their mouths.

Still confused? Take 2 more seconds and look up the meaning of "Trust Fund."

I am sure that the spines of these in this blog would crumble under the weight of her successes. Go back to your bon-bons, ignorance, and Oprah for the lastest on the ral world. As for continuing to take cheap shots at the V.P. candidate, get off your fat duffs and run for office. As for for voting for a puppie, you can't, as finger prints are required on the political application, but a woman who can have puppies that should be a story for U.s. News!
