"On the trip" means nothing. It's not a wagon train. Either kid could fly in or out at any time. The Palins and all their flaks specifically say Willow was "at the game," and make a big point about that. We're entitled to some proof, and by this date I'm disturbed that new news outlet has bothered to give a definitive answer.
I haven't seen any articles stating that fourteen year old Willow attended the game with her mother. But most do mention that she was the only daughter to make the trip. I seriously doubt that fact was lost on the Letterman writers. They simply didn't think anyone would notice the difference.

I challenge you to find a single story published before Letterman's show that said Willow was at the game. Many people have been trying, and nobody has found one yet. All such stories are from after the row started, and they simply take SP's word for it. There has been no independent verification of any kind that Willow was at the game.
As to the new line that, well, Bristol wasn't there either, who cares? SP said Letterman supported pedophile rape because anybody should have known Willow was at the game. In fact, there was no online evidence of any kind that any fact-checker could have found showing that Willow was at the game. The Palin daughter who provided context for the bad joke was Bristol. That's bad enough as far as I'm concerned. But SP herself should be ashamed of dragging Willow into it.

I agree Palin is a lying piece of dirt.
Willow is not seeen in any random pictures of that day. In fact, just the adults are pictured in the box with some players.
I think someone has a big liar nose and that would be Palin.
Willow must be embarrassed by her wackoloon parents.

Sarah Palin has a history of using her children to advance her political agenda. Willow may very well have not attended the game. But here's what I'm wondering: If Todd and Sarah were in New York, does this mean Bristol was home taking care of HER baby, Sarah's baby, and young Piper? As a parent, this is the part of the story that bothers me the most!

I second the request to investigate the fact that the 14 year old was not at the Yankee gsme as Sarah Palin has conveniently implied. What an outrageous opportunist she is.

The youngest daughter would never have even heard that joke. Nice of her parents to make the joke about rape and then pin it on her.
David Letterman never said anything nearly as damaging about that little girl as her parents and family spokesperson did. Way to go - Dad, especially.
The joke was very clearly about Palin and her knocked-up daughter - as offensive as that may be (or may have become since she is now an adult), it is not fair to Letterman and much more offensive that the word *rape* is being thrown around. He was not talking about the 14 year old. Besides - the joke was about the 7th inning, and Palin et al left during the 6th. That HAS to carry as much weight as *well, her daughter was there, so it must be about her*. The Palins WERE NOT THERE during the 7th inning! If her daughter was at the game and that matters - how about if she was not there - or, how about if none of them were there at the time the joke stated. Stupid, I know, but not any stupider than *she was there so it MUST BE about her!*.
Anyone who thinks the joke is about another one of her daughters must forget that she has one daughter who is now an adult, who had a very public pregnancy. And her interview about abstinence not being realistic. And then her Candies contract promoting abstinence... which is not realistic... but wait... oh, my head hurts just trying to make sense of any of these people and their moral code.
Maybe Palin *took it however she wanted to take it*, as she suggested we all do with her comment about keeping Willow away from David Letterman.
This is all a plan of Palin to abet her political distraction. Earlier last week it was reported that she plagiarized Newt Gingrich, introduced hate-monger Michael Reagan for a speech, AND was named a role model by a murderer (no comments from her on any of this). And it is also being reported that Levi Johnston is writing a tell-all book.
Wait until the other late-night comedians skewer her in Lettermans defense. Tonight should make for some interesting TV.

"Accompanying Palin on the trip is her husband, Todd, and the couple's 14-year-old daughter, Willow, as well as Palin's sister, Heather Bruce and Bruce's son Karcher, also 14."
Palin says it was Willow that was with them but, whether Willow was or was not at the game for sure, Bristol was not at the game!
Dave joked, "One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the 7th inning her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriquez" Letterman thought it would be funny to comment that now another of Palin's daughters had been knocked up and that would be awkward for Sarah Palin.
The screen writers had to read the papers to know who was with Palin. These jokes are gone over with a fine tooth comb before airing. That is why you call them SCREEN writers! Letterman passed it. Later realizing he made a big mistake & to save his butt, he tried to weasel out of it by saying he was talking of Bristol.
The one thing Dave knew for sure from the papers was, Bristol was the ONE daughter that definitely WAS NOT THERE!

There is nothing relative about an obscure daughter...only those that don't understand that comedy has to have some relevance would buy the lie the Palins are foisting on the public.
She and Bristol had a grand opportunity to make a united stand and a civil and decent statement about teen pregnacy..instead she chose to lie, get hyperbolic and hysterical and accuse Letterman of words he didn't say. It is all about Sarah and it's always public. She is like a Jerry Springer guest....unfortunately.
