We've already been sold a bill of goods as evidenced by the swing of power in Washington. We've already spent necessary billions in "the war on terror" and rebuilding after 911 and Katrina. The new un-necessary feeding frenzy in Washington is not only "snake oil" but may very well plunge us into a worldwide depression. Ask any economist. I say divide the bill.

Real fiscally responsible stimulus will pass hands down. Then we can debate the pork later. If it's such an "emergency" as the L&S Obama states, he should be willing to encourage congress to do this so a bill can pass. End of debate.

"There's a sucker born every minute" The Democrates and Obama need to go out an recurit someone like P.T.Barnum to sell their plan to swindle Americans.

This is nothing but a big joke. First what happened to all the property tax money? Oh, that's right they increase thier bugets and spent more money during the boom years and I'm not talking about the federal goverment but the states. Calif is the most liberal benfits state in the union. Please move their and crush their enconomy. Stay at home and claim disability!

Roads? The Europeans are using a concert that has a life of at least 10yrs. You know why we don't use it jobs and unions. Have you every been on a road in Europe? There great and they have winter. Lets start using that type of concert, it's not like we'er going to run out of roads to pave. Look at all the shitty secondary roads. Were is that toll money going that has been collected for all these years? Were is all that lottery money going? Our goverment shouldn't talk about corrpution in Iraq and Afgahstain! They just don't hide as well as our goverment does.

For all you smokers who voted for Obama, I just want to say thank you for now paying $10 a packet!

Holly crap you poor B! For you Obama alochol drinkers your next! Don't worry your money will be used wisely. I hear Congress wants a pay increase! I hear they will be doing it under the pertense that kids need more milk in school.

For all you tax payers out there you need to learn a new exerise. BEND OVER AND TOUCH YOUR TOES, BECAUSE YOUR GOING TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE IT UP THE A! You go OBAMA! Jihad

While I do feel for the people that have lost their homes and credit has been ruined, I do not believe that artificially adjusting their numbers will help anything. All that would do is cloud the system even more because no lender would be able to tell the good from the bad and therefore would have to speculate and/or tighten up lending restrictions enough to be sure whomever they lend to is good for it.

We were a two-income family and had just built a new home in mid 2006. Then in January 2008 she got laid off and it put us in a difficult position. We cut back on spending, re-organized our finances and have done everything we can to make it a priority to pay our bills on time, stay current on our mortgage and provide food for our children. We are by no means as bad off as some people, but what help do we get for cutting back to the bare minimum and for just getting by to continuously follow the rules and protect the credit rating we have so rightfully earned?

I do agree that everyone should be contacting their representatives in Washington to let them know where they stand on major issues, because it is through that feedback and constituant partisipation that help guide these officials to do whats best for America. There is always two sides to every story and there will always be supporters and opponents for every issue. That is what makes America great. If you do not have opinions, debates, differences and compromised solutions, then my friend, you have a dictatorship.

I do not agree that this stimulus package is the best thing for America right now, in fact most of it will not provide the immediate, targeted spending required to even be called a stimulus. I have voiced my opinion to elected officials, but what ever the outcome, I will support the result and the President and hope for the best.

You wrote: "Those senators and house members that will and have voted against this stimulus package, their state(s) would be on the bottom of the list for any benefits from this bill."

If it passes, then is it fair to say that any tax money from the states that did not support this bill, should then not be directed to be part of the funding for this bill?

I think attention should be given to the fact that all these people that have lost their homes and now have a bad credit score, cannot purchase anything on credit for a long time. I suggest the government work with the credit reporting companies to adjust the credit scores for individuals that had good credit up until they got caught up in this credit crisis. Otherwise, a great number of people once they get reestablished, will not purchase a house, a car, or anything else on credit. It would take forever for these people to save the money and purchase all these items for cash. I believe we will have a "pent up demand" in this country because people have put off their large purchases for so long, but they do need to be able to get reasonable credit for these purchases.

This may not sound fair to some, but one of the ways to reform Washington is let the folks back home let their elected officials know how they feel. For example: Those senators and house members that will and have voted against this stimulus package, their state(s) would be on the bottom of the list for any benefits from this bill. If they have any complaints and I am sure they will, they should direct them to their elected officials in Washington. If they get very little complaining done back home, then they have represented the people as they should. On the other hand, if they hear complaints, then they understand the will of the folks back home better and just maybe will represent them in a better fashion.

As a homeowner and realtor who is about to lose my house due to the country's economy, I agree with JJ of IL. My family and I relocated to be closer to our family and have suffered dearly for it. Just two months after relocating the economy took a nose dive! Real Estate went "nowhere" and my husbands business also began to suffer. We used up all of our savings and are now about to lose our home!

I believe that banks should give people the opportunity to restructure their loans prior to 3months, by reappraising the values of the homes according to the current sales in the area.

I am hoping that our President will see the need and understand the required assistance our country has long been waiting for!

Fellow Americans,

On Jan. 28, 2009, the House of Representatives passed an $819 billion stimulus plan, calling it the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009’’, with 11 Democrats and all 177 Republicans voting against it.

Can you think of a better way to provide a jump-start to a stagnant and declining economy that will pay back instant dividends to America now and in the future?

Here’s my pitch:

While I do agree that we must invest in infrastructure, education, energy, health care, law enforcement, military, technology and many other things, it must be done through proper budgeting, fiscal discipline and by putting leaders in power who can run America without hurting American families while enriching themselves.

Here’s the here & now stimulus “jolt”:

Our economy is suffering because of a severe lack of confidence in our system, from a fear of the unknown and by a general feeling that the corruption at the top is spreading out of control. Daily announcements of job losses, housing declines, business closings and shrinking investments all add fuel to the fire and continue to feed this down turn. In order to truly create a change and do something drastic to help get this country back on track I am proposing a stimulus check, based off of individual 2006 tax returns, before most of the layoffs occurred, with amounts determined by tax bracket.

10% tax bracket - $20,000 avg. income – 25.7 mil. returns = $4,000 per return

15% tax bracket - $51,000 avg. income – 49.9 mil. returns = $8,000 per return

25% tax bracket - $92,000 avg. income – 22.7 mil. returns = $12,000 per return

28% tax bracket - $175,000 avg. income – 4 mil. returns = $16,000 per return

This would distribute a total of $838.4 billion to millions of Americans, using over 102.3 million individual tax returns. This money would be yours to use & spend as you see fit.

If you purchase something with it, you stimulate consumer spending; if you pay down debt, you improve your financial position and that of the financial institution; and if you invest it, you provide needed capital for businesses to innovate, expand and start hiring. All of this only helps to strengthen America and invest in our future.

Also, if you are not a fan of a direct check and don’t want it or feel that it can be better spent on the community as a whole, you can direct your money to go into a state fund, to be used by the state on infrastructure, education, energy needs, ect.

Ask your representative to create an/or support a bill to “Revitalize Middle Class America”.

Fellow Americans,

On Jan. 28, 2009, the House of Representatives passed an $819 billion stimulus plan, calling it the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009’’, with 11 Democrats and all 177 Republicans voting against it.

This bill is a 647 page, “pork-filled” spending package with very detailed and complicated descriptions of who, what, when, where, why and how this money can be spent with references to past, current and future legislation. Most of this money will be spent over the next 10 years by government agencies or funneled through the agencies and appropriated in places and to companies in which these agencies deem appropriate. This bill will drastically inflate the size of the government and increase our dependence on it. This is being pushed onto us as a “must pass” to rescue our economy, but how will a massive spending bill like this provide the instant jolt to the economy that it so desperately needs?

It seems to me that once again, we are being fed a line, played off people’s fear of the unknown. More and more, whether its big business, Congress, or the President, the way to get what you want is through fear-based pressure, and to demand quick action before anyone has time to think and question what is going on. Anyone who wants to know what lies ahead if we continue down this path, should go to a local library or bookstore and get the book titled “America’s Great Depression”, by Murray N. Rothbard. The policies and programs being mentioned today are sadly similar to those of the early 1930’s.

When did America become a country of people run by the government instead of a government and country run by the people? Private investment and job growth by the people, led by a robust consumer is a far better and healthier plan for America than to grossly expand the size and dependence on our federal government.

This is no time to throw in the towel and let someone else make every major decision for us. We must not give in to every whim and demand! How can these people hold my wallet open while the other rank and file members, in single file order each take dollars out as they pass by, with little incentive to get back in line to return what is justifiably mine? When we as Americans see a need, we fill a need, but we must not create a need, just to fill it!

The Senate is currently debating this plan and will undoubtedly add to the package before approving it. Ask yourself this question: is another corporate government “bailout” the right thing for you, your children, or their children? Are you satisfied with the results of billions and billions of dollars funneled into major companies and a fragile financial system over the last year and a half?

It is up to you now! If you do not agree with what’s being done, you MUST contact your elected officials and voice your opposition to this or anything else you disapprove of. They will listen to the masses and can still do what’s best for America. We still vote these people into power and we can still vote them out!

On a side note, how is your 401k doing?

Want to help it?

Ask congress to force the SEC to re-instate the “up-tick” rule. Not sure what this is and how it affected your 401k? Find out…http://www.whokilledmy401k.com/actnow.html
