Bush was arguably one of the most progressive presidents ever; yet time and time again the left squandered the chance to engage & encourage the Bush administration. Instead they engaged in cheap ad hominem attacks for political brownie points, or bought into deranged conspiracy theories (e.g. renowned former prosecuter Vincent Bugliosi nutball ragings).

One of the things people underestimate most is the cards a President is dealt. Not just before, but during the job, and how cooperative Congress is - or isn't. One definite thing we know - He tried hard to do a good job he could respect. And if you don't believe that, you're either ignorant or lying. Everybody who knows him will tell you he did, and we knew him, long before the rest of the country ever heard of him.
