Senate Republicans' Warning to the Democratic Leaders

One cannot condone bipartisanship when the choices are limited to bales of pork that have little chance of stimulating our economy.

I keep hearing that FDR took us out of the impression by his makework programs when in truth it was the onset of World War.

The House Republicans are correct, God bless them!

I agree with the sentiment that the Democrats use the nuclear option that the GOP trumpeted around so much when they ruled Congress. Now that the tide has reversed, I don't hear them decrying it anymore. Whatever it takes, Congress needs to get a LOT of work done this session. If they don't then we should give up and let a 3rd party move in. These 2 idiot parties have done nothing significant for the country that is resulting in a positive. Sadly, the only reason that Bush and his failed domestic and foreign policies are being reviewed and possibly reversed is that he can't run for president again.

There is no plan except the one that robs the poor and enriches the rich.

Friedman would be proud of his economic shock troops.

This is the biggest prize of all and they got it and they are going to keep it going going going until the nation of our fathers is owned by them lock stock and barrel.

Only a fool would buy the purported reasons for this shameful bailout scam.

Follow the money don't listen to moving politicians mouths!

Trillions to save our economy?

I don't buy any of it!

When I see the little guy helped and wall street shamed then i may change my mind.

Not on second before!

Four years ago when the GOP had majorities in both houses of Congress and held the presidency they threatend to eliminate the filibuster in the Senate because we were in an "emergency". If anything, times now are actually an emergency and the Republicans will filibuster any- and every- thing that the Democrats try to do including help for the middle class in this recession.

It's time for something new. The Republicans have one tool they use constantly. Let's take that tool away and see if we can get them to act in a bipartisan manner.

LISTEN THE 6 YEARS OF REPUBLICANS CONTROL SAW MOST DEMOCRATS FILILLABUSTING. ESPECIALLY CHRIS DODD THE MAIN CULPRIT BEHIND THIS WASTE OF ALL ARE MONEY LEFT. 3 TIMES 1 WHILE CLINTON WAS IN OFFICE AND TWICE IN BUSH'S TERM. HE HELD UP A BILL THAT WOULD REIGN IN THE 2 FANNIES. EVERYBODY SINCE CLINTON. WAS IN SAID THE SAME THING THEY HAD BEEN COOKING THE BOOKS. FUNNIEST THING TO SEE WAS THE HOUSE COMMITEE CHAIRED BY THE YODA FRANK.THEY BROUGHT THE AUDITOR WHO FOUND ALL THE GARBAGE THAT WAS GOING ON AND THEY EVEN APPOINTED HIM TO CHECK. RAILING ON HIM FOR FINDING ALL THIS OUT. THEN A DEM CONTROLLED CONGRESS PASSED LEGISLATION TO STOP THE FANNIES GUESS WHO SHUT IT DOWN CHRISTOPHER DODD. SO WHILE ALL YOUR FUTURE IS GOING DOWN THE TOILET. ENJOY THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. ITS GOING TO BE ALOT WORSE THAN IT IS NOW. DONT WORRY ABOUT IT ACCORDING TO EVERY SEER FROM HISTORY EXPECTS ALL HUMANKIND TO GO EXTINCT. HOLLYWOOD EVEN NOW IS MAKING A MOVIE OF OUR EXTINTION. I DONT KNOW GO YOU THINK WE COULD ALL FIT IN A SHUTTLE. I AM SURE CONGRESS IS WRITING UP A STRATEGY TO SAVE ALL THER BEHINDS.

and the key thrown away,do they think its been forgotten how they treated the Democrats while they had power? Well if they get in the way now and start their crap, they,ll soon enough join the Whig Party on the scrap heap of history, where by the way they ever last one belongs. They,ve set the course were on now for Great Depression 2 the sequal,oh please Republicans keep it up and obstruct those that are trying and see what happens 2yrs from now. I myself a former Republican left with Bushs second nomination, and would rather have a party of Communist Pedophiles running things than to see Republicans in power,in fact I believe they will stay a minority if that for many years to come.

This country needs to have a plan that will get this country going again. But a good thought out plan..not the mess that congress pasted for paulson and Bush came up with. Throwing money at the ones that helped to create this mess has not helped. People are still losing their homes and their jobs. Oversight , accountability , transparency, ethics and integrity..all things we want in our leaders...but so far not much of that has shown up.

Party politics has got to stop if this country is to regain its place in the world economy. Playing party politics helped to get us in this mess..

Wasteful spending by this government has to also stop....streamline the government instead of continuing to make it larger and that will help with the growing tax burden we are facing now.

I'm so glad the Republicans have offered to keep an eye on things for us. They like to be helpful.

Purple Patriot of CO 2:45PM January 09, 2009

After the way the Republicans treated all of us who didn't agree with them while they were in power they should be ashamed to be whining like this. I'm a vindictive kind of person. I can remember them calling the capital police on the Democrats when the Dems had the same issue with being shut out of deliberations. However with that said the democrats don't have the cajones to do unto others as was done unto them. I also remember when we were protesting the blasted war having George Bush and his GOP controlled house and senate calling us nothing but focus groups. The SOBs deserved to sidelined as well as tarred and feathered. They will continue to whine and cry and they will continue to try to derail anything positive that the Democrats try to do becasue all they know how to do is complain, they've yet to do anything constructive that benefitted the middle class since Eisenhower was in office. Hell they are the ones who decided to wage war based solely on credit while winning elections on a no-tax platform and so far their tax cuts have made the rich richer and the rest of us scrounging to make ends meet. Talk about a hypocritical bunch of do nothing candy *sses.

This is not a "party" issue it is about all Americans. I hope the Republicans realize they have a reputation to mend and if they start playing "good old politics" again, it will wipe out the party.

As an independent voter and an American whose father spent 5 years of his life away from his family in WWII, I want my country back, yes "my" country. My father made the scrafices for his family to give them the gift of Life, Liberty and Freedom. The freedom of speech and to pursue our dreams. I want to ensure that gift is left to our children and their children, etc.

Oversight, accountability, transparency, ethics and integrity. That's what made our country great. Good things happen to good people.

Approve the stimulus, as much as it takes. I will pay the taxes for the sake of saving jobs and bringing America back to the standards it once held. I do think that banks need to do the right thing. I do think people need to "save". I do think we need to consider more of a "cash" econmy again. We not only need to fix the infrastructure of our land, but also we need to bring back the substance that give people a conscience.
