I lost my job on oct 8,2007 iv'e been looking for work and i've put in over 60 to 80 applications online and offline at diffrent companies looking for work yes the economy is very bad however i do get unemployment for just $101.00 a week which isn't much when u have alot of bills to pay such as light, car ins, heating oil, telephone bill which i don't have anymore so i just keep my cell phone on ,its hard out here for low income families that's worked very hard in there lifetime like myself .u get tired of being broke all the time on the same note continuing looking for employment.i mean what else is there to do when your unemployment will soon run out and u still not having a job .like myself u just trust in god and let god and let go.i know that he will make a way out of noway he always does.it would be very nice if low income families and middle class could get another stimilus check to support there families and there self.we make way over the amount when we all work and get such little anount of funds,or money,to support our families and our selves.

Ok Im a single parent of four children and I have to pay Rent ,Water ,Lights ,Taxes for everything i cant afford to have gas heat this winter so what Iam I to do just lay back and wait I've been in Management for 13yrs and still at the rate of something that to me is minimum wage just like alot of american people I think that the laws on equal employment opptunities should be changed because you can work and perform a job to the best of your ability for years and one day and employer can come to you and say that you have to be demoted to a lower position without giving you an explanation why and tax breaks the more money you make the less you get back at tax time but 3,000 or 4,000 dollars is nonthing for a tax check for a average working person you work 40-60hrs in a two week span thats nonthing you make more than that in a years time .

I got news for you, the value of the dollar is already down, always has been....The US has borrowed money and probably the only country who's money values less...i'm with the other readers, one million dollars per individual would definitely put the money back into the economy...new jobs, businesses, mortgages being paid off, people buying american made cars, etc. makes perfect sense to me.

If we were going to give everyone one million dollars that would come out to 300 trillion dollars. Also, As much as I would love to just get a million dollars, it would most likely lower the value of the dollar.

I don't get it. There are what, 300 million people in the U.S. One million dollars given to each comes to 300 million dollars. Isn't that a heck of a lot less than the BILLIONS they are giving away to big business that got us here in the first place? CAn you imagine how happy everyone in this country would be with that much money in their pockets? What do you think we'd all do with it? We'd buy new cars, new houses, new clothes, pay off our debt, go on vacations around the world. Geez, seems like a no brainer to me. Hmmm..maybe we'd be too happy. Happy people can't be manipulated. Things are starting to make more sense.

It would be nice to receive another stimulus package, we support the world but won't help American citizens, we pay for Iraq yet our own government denies us. Our politicians give themselves raises, bailout the most corrupt people in the world by giving them billion of dollars and won't give the average american citizen a few hundred dollars without playing politics.Come on Washington support America first.

I Think the goverment should stop paying to bail out the ones who have put our country at risk. The working people are the one's that get the shaft. Our country would rather give welfare to foreigners and support other countrys instead of taking care of there own country. How many foreign countrys support Americans or our country NONE!!!!! If we were to go to another country they would not give us a hand out. Stop giving free gratis to every person who comes from a foreign Country. Let there goverment take care of there own people. Don't take our tax money and support anyone who comes from another country .stop giving welfare. That is where the tax payers money goes and why we are in bad shape. Pay the people who have had to work instead of taking away and adding to the finanical problems. stop bailing the rich out and the foreigners and take care of our country .I think every family who has worked for the last year should get at least $5,000 stimulus bail the little people out for once and make a difference for them

I live in Maui, Hawaii and it nice usually, but lately it gotten so hard for us. We work two jobs and are happy to have those two jobs. Many, many friends and family around us are being laid off. Our hours cut back, whats next. I'll tell you we went to the food back because we couldn't afford food, only to be turned away. NO FOOD. We don't receive food drops in Hawaii, food banks rely on donates which is not happening. It was disappointing when our nation could drop food in China but what about us. Gas reaching an all time high, I hate telling my children sorry we can't afford that, Milk, etc. such a needed item for them. Our problem is, we make just a little to much for food stamps but not enough to keep our bills and living quarters current. What happens to the barely making it people, who are trying so hard. WE NEED HELP!!! HELP US, YOUR PEOPLE, NOT OTHER COUNTRIES!

A new economic stimulus bill should include low or no-interest government loans to retrofit existing buildings (install insullation, energy-efficient windows, etc.). Such loans would have several benefits:

* Jobs would be created, especially for unemployed construction workers.

* Homeowners, businesses, schools, etc. would save money on heating costs.

* The environment would benefit from less use of fossil fuels.

The loans could be paid back over a long time period, out of the savings on heating costs. So the costs to the government would be minimal.
