I would like to see nonviolent communication taught to all CA politicians, union leaders, and state employees as soon as possible. Nonviolent communication (NVC) was developed by Dr. Marshal Rosenberg in which he has trained NVC trainers available to intervene in crisis situations. (I am not an NVC trainer.) Until both sides (the Gov., union leaders, and budget analysts)learn to identify their own feeling and needs (instead of name calling and attacking those things outside of themselves) no ones' needs will be able to be met in the most cost-effective and humanitarian way. If interested, please check out the website www.CVNC.org

You need to check things out before you start talking. Schwarzenegger by law must be paid just like anyone else. He does and has since he went it to office donated his pay back to the state to help. That is more than anyone else who is living off of the tax payers. The public servants should be doing what he is doing. Why should anyone who works and makes money have to give it to anyone???? Why are you not upset that we are still paying Cliton.

...the Governor should distribute HIS net worth. Any reason why? He earned what he has working his whole life. WHY should he give it away? I am sure he has paid his fair share of taxes.

California,
If you truly want to ballance your budget STOP SUPPORTING and START DEPORTING ILLEGALS. They are draining your economy. If you want to cut employees wages why not start with your own house, with both Democrat and Republican Politicians. See if they can live on minimum wages. People can not raise a family on minimum wages. To the state employees of California I will keep you in my prayers "May God Bless You", also when you have the opportunity I would recommend moving from that state as the Governor is not looking out for you. See how well off California would be with 200,000 less families to support their economy.

...and I am NOWHERE near lazy or stupid. I have a degree and I work extremely hard protecting the public and regulating the licensees of our Board. Alas, I am not a state worker in California, but it's neighbor Arizona. We were threatened with the same fate, but thank God it didn't work out in such drastic measures. Governor Napolitano was to consider multiple remedies for our failing state budget as well, but so far the biggest constraint is a hiring freeze. It's funny, though, because people have asked me things like, "why does it take so long to close my case?" Well...maybe it's because we're operating at 50% capacity. I am supposed to handle the jobs of three people now, and I won't be seeing a raise anytime in the near future. I live paycheck to paycheck like a lot of people, but I love my job and feel a duty to protect the public. I bet a lot of the California workers felt the same way. It's so sad.

Our Governor received $1.00 his annuak income.
Most state employees do nothing on their job, and it's about time they got a slack.

Honestly, if CA is having so much trouble paying it bills; perhaps the Governor should waive his salary all together. Certainly, he will still have sufficient funds to pay his bills. The state employees are not "over paid". They are likely over worked; however. So lets just cause the hard working people who play by the rules some massive hardships. Is the Governor going to give them all a place to stay when they lose their homes? Perhaps he can buy them all gorceries or school clothing for their kids. WHAT AN ASS!!!!!

The Governor has made a bold move. I'm disgusted with his power play and lack of regard for the state employees that will be affected by this callous move.
The majority of Americans earn wages by performing specific duties, also known as a job. We, the working class, expect to receive a wage for the services we provide, no matter what type of job we have.
What place does anyone have to judge the people that work for the state. They're not all lazy; some of them have families with children and mouths to feed. Most of them I'm sure have to keep a roof over their heads. Some of them, and I know this for certain, are living check to check like many working class Americans are today. So to judge them, and say that they deserve this cut is just ridiculous and disgusting. To anyone that applauds the temporary pay cut to an honest working man or woman deserves to have their wages reduced just as drastically so that they too can feel the sting that's soon to come to these unfortunate hard working Americans.
