A Growing Trend of Leaving America

Having close relatives who actually lived through the Weimar Republic and it's aftermath and told me about same, I concur with the prior poster that the similarities between then and current US conditions are frightening.

I'm out as fast as I can liquidate my US-based holdings.

Will be leaving for Singapore in 2 years once I am done with my MBA. Been around long enough and have read enough history books to see the similarities to here and now with Germany in the 1930's.

@ DBILL of TX - I think you should learn how to read with an understanding. This has nothing to do with the race of the US president. It has everything to do with what the US has become and what it's been doing world wide to undermine the credibility of its own citizens.

Good riddance to each of you too. Less racist scum here in the USA. We will gladly stick with the Magna Cum Laude Juris Doctor Harvard graduate President over your kinds of losers.

Now that Obama is re-elected, this country is finished. It wasn't like Romney was any better, but since Third-Party candidates were totally ignored, I had to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Hey I am defenitely with you guys and praise the lord over 6 million americans and more are living overseas. Well that's what's up because I can't wait to get the heck of this immoral cesspool that is no longer a country but a big mean entitlment company. All this crap on television and all these politicians in Washington DC. And New York City which is nothing but a Police start. Who the hell wants to live in a city where you gotta worry about cops and criminals. Crazy isn't? America is going down seriously this country or better yet this company is done.

I fled America 7 years ago and now enjoy much more freedom and a higher quality of life in Thailand. I was tired of the growing police state and of a government that treats it's citizens like children. This article has been useful to me, when I meet people here who say they cannot understand whyI left "wonderful" America, I tell them to read this article and to especially read these comments. The answer, Thai friends saying " I did not know America was that bad.". I would love to see a 2012 update on this article, now that Omama has shown he is no different than Bush.

when people decide that they are not going to return to the US, it is time to give up the US passport and really become a citizen of the country in which they live. Why hold on to a US passport when one is not longer interested in living there? America is not what it once was and being a "foreigner" is not very satisfying.

obamanomics and obamacare are the two main reasons America is failing as an economy and a country.

obama adores Communism, but is too stupid to realize that it will fail in America mainly because it robs people of the motivation to work hard and succeed for themselves and their families, rather than for the sole sake of the govt.

Why the h*ll should I work my tail off so the Axis of Evil (obama/pelosi/reid) have more money to buy votes.

I have worked like a dog for forty years for ,yself and my family. I do not want my kid to need to work as hard as I have. The Axis of Evil believes that they should inherit the fruits of my labor. No way in h*ll will I allow that. I WILL move to another country before I let those jerks take my inheritance!!!

Don't try to keep the American citizenship, if you disagree with the laws. Change it to the country you want to live in. This is difficult in certain countries, like China, where you cannot become a citizen. Freedom is certainly more illusive than ever, especially in America.
