Blog Buzz: McCain, Social Security, and Guantánamo Bay

+ More

Our daily look at stories and topics lighting up the Internets:

He was for privatization before he was against it

The liberal side of the blogosphere is focused on Social Security today, running side-by-side videos of John McCain saying he's against privatization of Social Security but singing a different tune four years ago. The general consensus: McCain opposes the word "privatization," if not the policy.

The Supreme Court's Guantánamo decision: He was quietly against it before he was loudly against it

McCain today laid into the U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing Guantánamo Bay detainees access to U.S. civil courts. (What do you think of the decision?) Will he make it a campaign issue? And: Conservatives are pleased that he is strong on this case, as he wants to close the Guantánamo Bay prison anyway.
