Dean, I am sorry for your loss, but really, the hummer was the worst business decision GM ever made and it's likely to be the downfall of their company. Drilling for oil in Alaska won't make a dent in the cost of oil. Do you really think that shell, exxon, etc.s will ever have YOUR interests at heart? Record profits for American oil companies! How we evolve my friend is by realizing we are part of an eco-system and we have responsibility to future generations who must also live on this planet. Not much time left for dinosaurs and hummers.

I have had my Hummer for 4 years. It will be sad to watch our dreams and desires shattered all because of a foreign oil company that is not in our control. We have discouraged exploring alternate energy sources here in the states. Is it no surprise that we have been caught with our pants down (so to speak) while our foreign friends revel in our lack of planning?? I have faith that GM will produce an engine with fuel alternatives so that some of us can still pursue larger vehicles and not have our dreams replaced with small electric cars. There is nothing wrong with bigger, better, stronger, faster. It is how we evolve...........

Glad to hear the Hummer brand is getting killed off in favor of the new Chevy Volt. Accoridng to http://www.chevy-volt.net it gets 640 miles on a full tank! Sounds much better for the wallet, the enviornment and GM's bottom line that gas guzzling Hummers!
