There are such substantial differences between these to problems it is difficult to list them all here. First, to believe that we won the cold war without a shot is naive, Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, and insurrections throughout South America, Africa and the Middle East were all essentially proxy wars between the US and the USSR. Our Special Forces, the CIA, KGB, etc have operated in almost every country in the world. Since the mid sixtys training, equiping and conducting operations with guerilla forces around the world. It is power and force that won the Cold War not peaceful pandering as some would suggest. Iran wants to be viewed as an economic player on the world stage yet it doesn't want to play by the rules. There must be consequences, and while I am the last one to defend Israel, they do have a right to live in safety and peace. The Arabs and Persians in the Middle East are not willing (in general) to negotiate and talk about the Israeli problem. As long as Israel is threatened Iran will be as well.

Certainly we cannot rule out Al Qiada for this first attack against Kennedy! Is that the rhetoric going or what? Anyhow, we hope to god that Kennedy gets better. He is a fighter and I am sure he will move through this. evan andersen wishes the best to his family and himself.

Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev said to the U.S. "We will bury you," but Richard Nixon, who was vice president then, went to Moscow anyway and debated Khruschev in what is known as the Kitchen Debates. At one point during their exchange, Khruschev got angry at something Nixon said. He pulled off his shoe and banged it on the table as Nixon looked on in stunned disbelief. The U.S. eventually won the Cold War with the Soviets without firing a shot, but there were a lot of words exchanged So why not talk to Iran, other than for the reason that military defense contractors make less money in a talking war than a shooting one?
