Senate Committee Votes to Overturn FCC Cross-Media Ownership Rules

Freedom of the Press ( The Media ) is a cornerstone of our Democracy. Our founders knew this, that's why it's in the Constitution. Media consolidation is a direct attack on Freedom of the Press, though the Media Conglomerates will loudly proclaim the opposite. This should be the most important bill on the table for this Congress or the next, right along with extracting us from Iraq, and putting some clamps on excessive power grabs by the Executive branch.

Control the media and you control the nation . Every dictator first cointroled the media then the nation. The terrorist in the United States is a consolodated media. Sanctioned by Congress and the Senate.They were the onese that overturned the laws that prevented consolidation of the media. Know your enemy

This is good to see, and I will love seeing the Bush-brat have a tantrum. Amazing that they are now trying to sneak through the telecom immunity attached to a war-funding bill...what fuc*ers!!
The NTIA scam that was part of the 2005 Deficit Reduction legislation needs the level of scrutiny this sly FCC consolidation law is getting.

The Senate Commerce Committee action is a postive step forward to help stem the tide of further media consolidation. Even before the threatened veto, passage in the Senate and House are not "done deals." Let's hope that all citizens who value open government and want to see a more active local media environment will write their congressional delegations NOW and express there view in clear and uncertain terms.

Like all Government Agencies, such as the USDA, the FDA, the FCC has too much power, and does a very poor job of policing those businesses under it's rule. If anyone was suprised at the promised veto from the "jackass" in the White House, we should not be. After all in the face of a terrorist attack we got "The Military Commissions Act."
Allowing such a consolidation of our media is bad for any government, especially for one calling itself a Democracy. This type of consolidation only stiffles speech, and there are many limits we as citizens know nothing about as is. Our Government is missing in action. Example, look at the fix the credit market in presently in. Speech is something we cannot be loose about. We need to be free people, not atomatons, who are brainwashed by the media. More consolidation will futher erode our rights, and control what we hear, and read.
As is special laws were put into place to allow an Austrialian to own media in this nation as. Enough is enough.
