I note a quote from the president of Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon. I am a graduate theology student at Marylhurst, and I love the way this Catholic University, founded by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, has met the challenges of both today's world and the Church. As theology students, we are presented, within a Catholic framework, with traditions quite different from our own. This in no way represents a syncretization, but rather encourages us to see the differences and appreciate both the differences and our own tradition from the standpoint of both faith and scholarship. How can we fulfill Christ's commission to love if we do any less?
