Early Retirement Incentive

Is Mass. going to offer a early retirement incentive for police, fire fighters and teachers?

Older workers

Think you need to study how many older workers are just being fired.Five of my girlfriends and my brother -who had just returned to work after being hospitalized for a complication related to diabetes were let go that way. My brother was let go for insubordination for writing a memo asking for clarification of his bosses decision to deny a doctor computer access. No heath insurance, no cobra and the hospital he works for is fighting his unemployment claim. And like most older workers without $10,000 up front no lawyer for an age discrimination suit.

Disabled and ready to Retire

Believe me, at 48, if you are able to work at ANY JOB, your best best is to continue working, unlews of course if your Dr. tells you differently.

From what you have written, you are able to work. If I were in your position, while I was working, I would settle up with Social Securityso that when you do retire or become 100% totally disabled, Social Security will have a true base to start with.

I am only 48 an I am ready to retire but also disabled

Since my age is 48 soon to be 49 an I am disabled with a head injury, I feel I should retire but I am now working part time. The economic reallity says do what I must to get by. My SSB has been reduced so I can keep Medicare by paying nearly $105.00 per month. My benifits are also reduced next because I am told Socail Security made payments when they were not suppose to. I had a job a Farmer Jacks Grocery store but I did inform Socail Security of not only my job but the exact amount of my wages per hour. In 2001 I made $7.40 per hour at 20 hours per week. I continued recieving SSB but am now told I owe Socail Security for all payments they made on my behalf for the last six months of my time working there. It took nearly a year to get established with Socail Security to even start collecting benifits. I worked prior to becomming 18 years old for a full two years paying Social Security. I had a severe car accident. I was in a coma for about 12 full days. I now have a job at Hatteras Printing Solutions but can not work at the present time because of a hemorraging disk in my lower lumbar. I work hard and as responsible and complete as possible, an I am missing out on my pay and most of all the people I work with. I really do love my job, it is hard but I like to complete difficult matters. I feel I should retire for the good of somebody that can work. Please leave some information on what I should maybe think about doing. Thank you and May God Bless you.
