I just turned 52 and I am new to the "dating" scene after a 20 year marriage that I thought would never end!lol I joined an online dating site and paid good money and I haven't had anything but disappointment and hurt feelings. I am well educated, have a good stable career and I want to continue to earn income until I'm too old... but I am finding that is not what men want or at least the one's I have been "matched" with! All I hear from friends and relatives is "your goodlooking... well-educated... and you should have no trouble finding someone! Not so!

Knowledge gained

Be real careful. People aren't always as they seem. Trust your instincts. Don't believe everything your date says. If your dog doesn't like your date, trust your dog's instinct about the person. If your dog doesn't like the person, there is something the dog is sensing that isn't good.

Muddy waters

Dating after 45 and well into the 50's is like trying to navigate through muddy waters on a black night. Just getting past the walls and getting to know someone is more work than getting a BA and has all the merits of BS.... It's just plain hard to find good people who know what they really want and aren't afraid to commit to something bigger than themselves.

Good Things Happen To Those Who Wait

I am involved with a wonderful man I had met 12 years ago at a party. We were attracted then but I knew it wouldn't work as he had just gotten a divorce. Two years ago one of my friends ran into him at a concert. He asked for my email address and we are now living together and discussing marriage. For those of you who think that there is no hope, think again. I am a firm believer that good things can happen after 50. I am so happy.

"Right Man?"

Is there a Mr. Right? Or is there not? For the last 18 years I have counted on finding that someone. Every moment focusing on specifically Mr. Right has been a horrendous step in the wrong direction. It is OK to wish, look for, imagine that someone. Just don't count on it. Live just the way you are. Enjoy your moments. Believe in them. Appreciate NOT living in captivity, extreme poverty, or censorship. Love those aroung you because they may be all you have. Wake up and smell YOUR roses. Go for an unexpected trip, even if it is to the park, volunteer, call a friend. Life is beautiful, for we are never really single.

Dating at 50

My old boyfriend from High School just contacted me after 30 years. We have a date planned soon. I don't know where this will lead if anywhere, but I have a medical issue I need to tell him- I have Leukemia. I don't want to scare him off, but it's really something he should know. Any suggestions?

Single at 50

I'm tired of unfullfilled expectations. I've dated quite a bit since my divorce and had 2 serious relationships that just didn't work out. I don't understand why the right guy hasn't come along. I'm trying to trust in God and just let it go. I'm tired of trying so hard. It's discouraging, but I know that I'm better off along than getting hooked up with the wrong man. I have two sons, an elderly father, and a decent job. I have a lot to be thankful for. I'm 50 years old now and sometimes I think I'm running out of time. But, life goes on and I know there is a reason I'm still single.
