Boomer Bands Rock for Fun and Maybe Profit

Really Really Bad

Having perused the washington dc music scene for quite some time and seeing the remnants of a real good bad turn into the epitome of poor performance and amateur execution, I would suggest to anyone to really investigate the caliber of band you will invest your weekend night to. The Wicker Lee Band mentioned in your article is pretty bad and not indicative of the other boomer groups I have seen through out the area. It's a buyer beware thing....

Boomer Bands

I play in a Boomer Band in Corpus Christi, TX, The Green Zone, and we're not the only Boomer Band in town. Most of the crowd is young (20's and 30's) but they are extremely appreciative, especially when we play our original material. They start taking pictures of us, and hold up their cell phones and wave them around. (Remember holding up lighters? Same effect.) We perform classic rock, Blues, Motown, Latin Rock, and even some 50s music. Along with the classics we throw in our original music, and are currently in the studio recording our debut CD, something we always wanted to do when we were younger, but life got in the way.

PS-that's my brother's band, the Wicker Lee Band, mentioned in your article. Nice job!

Boomers are good but don't expect too much

Loved your article. Its interesting that just like the rolling stones rock n roll still moves on. However, after seeing one of the bands mentioned in Fredericksburg, VA retirement should be considered heavily (I was embarassed for them and couldn't stay for more than one set). If you are interested in hearing well produced music performed professionally, then this probably isn't for you.

Amother point

The majority population of "watering holes" that Boomer bands play are in their 20s and 30s. The point is that younger people are digging old tunes as long as they are done well.
