Rethinking 401(k) Rollovers

401K Rollovers

You can not take a hardship if you are no longer an Employee. Hardships are only available to current employees. You should speak with the carrier that holds your money and not go by what online says. I have noticed alot of times generic info is online and you need a real person to speak with about your situation. You can roll over all 401(k) Plans if you are not employed anylonger. Or over the age 59 1/2 unless your plan allows for a younger age.

401k roll-over not eligible?

1. I left my 401k in my old company 5 years ago and their website shows it is only available for a hardship withdrawl, now. Does that sound right? I want to roll it over to an IRA.

2. I have $45,000 in education loans from my first daughter. Can I make a hardship withdrawl to pay those off? Will it go directly to the loan or to me?

Thanks for your feedback.

401K Losses

My 401K was hit hard by the current situation. I recently retired with a disability. How can I build my 401K back if I can't put money in it?

401k to IRA rollover

I've been looking for information that actually explains the process and benefits of rolling over from a 401k to an IRA, and so far I've only found one site that does these things - http://401kirarollover.financialadvisingblog.com

Definitely worth checking out if you're as lost as I was.

401 K rollover if you have already retiredI

I retired, but left my 401K with employer. Employer sold 401K investments to another firm. I lost almost half since last Fall. Stock market has been going up, but I saw on TV today that JP Morgan lost a huge amount last quarter.

I would now like to rollover the remainder before more is lost. Am I eligible to rollover? I have received 3 small payouts at the end of the last 3 years.

Rollover while still employed

I want to make a rollover of my 401k of my current employer to an IRA. I am 62 so there should be no penalty and I should be able to continue to partipate in my current employer's 401k. Right?

401k rollover and other investment guidance

I recently interacted with Brooklyn Troy & Co. located at Desbrosses St., NY and they gave some very good ideas and guidance about 401k rollover plans and other investment strategies. I would recommmend anyone looking for similar info to give them a call. You can see more details at their website www.brooklyntroy.com
