How to Avoid 'Foreclosure Rescue Scams'

Scam artists are using the housing crisis to take advantage of already distressed property owners

What should a consumer do once they realize they have been taken by such a scam?
That's tough. Many times a homeowner has already given over money or signed paperwork that they were fraudulently induced to sign. If money has changed hands, the chances of recovering it are slim.

A complaint should be made with the local police department or at the local District Attorney's office. If somebody was induced to sign fraudulent loan transfer papers, they might consult someone at their local county recorder's office about possible remedies for them. But time can be of the essence as scammers will quickly try to resell a house that has been taken from a homeowner via fraudulent means. I think the recourse is pretty limited. Some criminals will get caught, prosecuted, and incarcerated, but many more will never get caught.

IMC Financial Services Fla

Hello to Rick of OR and everyone else out there regarding IMC Financial Services. I am truly sorry to hear that this company has taken your monies and has done nothing but give you more stress on what you had prior to contacting them. I do however have to thank you as while i was on the phone with them, i had this feeling to search them on the web a little more and noticed some sad stories about them taking your monies and not being responsive.

Although i wish i was there to change your minds and save you , i thank you all for saving me. They were extremely nice and thoughtful but when i started to get a little taken back they became very persistent. At that time i said i will call back if i am ready. Yes we all want the help we need and the safety and trust in people who will help but it is very unfortunate that we don't see or have many out there. Again my heart felt apologies to all of you. But many thanks for helping me not go thru it.

IMC Financial Services

I beg to differ IMC financial Services got $597.50 of my money then it was next to impossible to speak with anyone other than a receptionist. After so much frustration of only leaving messages on deaf ears I ended my need for their services and now getting my money back is nothing but a nightmare. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!
