Best Healthy Places to Retire: Green Valley, Arizona

Senior

Although we have been several times and are anticipating a purchase of our last home there, I am becoming more concerned now with what I read and am not told by our property developer, about the dramatic lack of drinkable water. Will it be less than ten years before people are in real trouble there? It definitely worries me a great deal.

Best Healthy Place to Retire

GREEN VALLEY, ARIZONA - Arizona's best kept secret! Having lived here for over 30 years, I can tell you, we have the best of all worlds! Tucson is a short drive away where one can be enlighted to all things cultural. Then take the relaxing drive back to the quiet of the valley.

THE ARIZONA DESERT MUSEUM is a wonderful place to spend a day learning about the flora and fauna of Southern Arizona. (Plan to visit the Desert Museum at least once a year!) THE TUCSON CONVENTION CENTER hosts a myriad of concerts year around. OLD TUCSON is a great place to take your grandchildren when they come for a visit; complete with reinacted shoot-outs! MADERA CANYON, minutes from Green Valley, is a bird watcher's paradise and a wonderful place to picnic.

The people are diverse and from all around the country. Everyone remembers what is was like to be new here, and as a result, this is one of the friendliest places one could live. We have tons of recreational opportunities including great golf courses. Whatever you like to do, we have it! If I didn't already live here, I'd move here! Be sure to put Green Valley, Arizona on your short list of places to visit before retiring! You'll be glad you did!

Healthy Living In Green Valley

My husband and I moved to Green Valley from Indiana due to my husbands COPD.Within two months of getting here he was so much better and my arthritis was greatly improved. I have had sinus trouble for years but the dry air helps that also. Green valley is a fun, friendly place to live with so many outdoor things to do you are never bored. Housing is very affordable here and utilities very reasonable. Visit my website for more information.

Green Valley, Canyon View Estates, Arizona

I have lived in many parts of the United States of America. I loved each state that I lived. Each state is unique. Finally, we settled down in Green Valley, Arizona.

For some people the climate may be too hot. To me the houses in Green Valley are well insulated. Most communities that have clubhouse that has swimming pools and many other activities for everyone.

Desert life has it its own beauty! I had never seen cactie flowers so beautiful in my life. It is not noisy, pleasant roads, shopping centers are conveniently located, many medical centers.

Tucson airport is only 30 minutes up North. During the hot months of the year, we have in the afternoons shower that calms down dust and refreshens the plants.

About buying homes in Green Valley (Especially Canyon View Estates) is a bargain compare to other parts of the USA.

Just to find out one can rent beautiful homes, furnished homes in Canyon View Estates in Green Valley. There are many other homes for rent also available in Green Valley.

I personally like Canyon View estates because I live there and love it. If you are interested in taking a tour in our community, please visit our website at : http://www.canyonviewhoa.org

Living with COPD & A1AD

Hey, I have a question and I'm hoping someone can help me out. My dad, who has COPD and A1AD, is planning on moving to Green Valley, but he found out today that everyone down there with those diseases is on oxygen because of the elevation. He's not to that point yet and now he isn't so sure about moving. Can someone tell me if the elevation is really that bad?

Thanks!

There is something for everyone

I am 43 years old and recently stayed in Villas East as a guest. I loved the community of Green Valley and every person I met was pleasant and cheerful. Everyone was so full of life and the happiness was contagious. Although I may have seemed like a youngster to some, I hope most long term residents don't mind the odd "underage" visitor. By welcoming others, you share your beautiful community with others who will help local businesses by spending money, and may even become a new friend to you. You don't really worry that a bunch of kids are going to take over the town, do you?

I loved the easygoing atmosphere of Green Valley and plan to return one day. It's a terrific place!

55 & over retirement community

I live in Green Valley Villas East a 55 and over retirement community, and age restricted. You have to be 55 years of age to live in our community. Not every owner follows the rules!

If one of the home owners rents to someone underage (the home owner is supposed to register their renter to our office but there doesn't seem to be a system set up and no one checks up on this).

Is there an AZ state law that you (if you're the one to report that an underage renter is living in one of the villas)would have to sign the complaint form? Or can another home owner sign their name to the complaint form? The underage individual lives by me and the owner lives in Florida.

Thank you!

Green Valley is what you make it

We moved here 3 years ago from Northern Nevada and I love it. The weather is great, no snow to shovel, sunshine most of the time, and peaceful. There are several clubs to join and classes to take. One can really keep busy if you "step out of the box" and try something new. No we aren't crabby old farts, as one person wrote. We are some of the young seniors in our early 50's. I love seeing 80 and 90 year old people out walking, swimming, exercising, and joining clubs.

To the people that complain about the lack of hospitals, doctors, and bugs - didn't you check the area out before moving here? Shame on you, but don't blame Green Valley for your mistake. I like having a HOA. You think the value of your home is low now, think what it would be if your neighbor had several junk cars in the yard and didn't keep up with repairs on their house. If you don't like it, leave.
