Find the best deals online

Thanks for this wonderful article! Another tip for everyone is a new site called www.woya.com. It analyzes prices from the best shopping portals (Amazon, Yahoo Shopping, etc), auctions sites (eBay, Overstock, etc.), classified listings (Craigslist, GoogleBase, etc.), which makes it a whole lot easier for us to find the best deals online.

Do it yourself!

Dont's pay someone if you can do it - mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool, unclogging the toilet, painting the house - in and out, are all relatively simple things you can do yourself and save the $$$. For tougher repairs or upkeep, look for a "doit-it-yourlf" book at home depot or lowes. Sometimes all you need is the right tool and the right attitude - and a good assistant!

Don't pay retail for shipping

Don't pay retail prices for shipping your large or hard-to-transport items. List the items you need shipped on uShip.com and transportation service providers bid against each other to win the job, which really keeps prices down.

GO PREPAID!

I completely agree with the comments from Marissa and Bob --> a preapid phone is the way to go. You waste less and only pay for the minutes you use. Even if you wish you combine all of your phones to one, prepaid services (tracfone) will allow you to switch your landline number to a prepaid phone.

GO PREPAID on your cell and save $$$$

I switched from mobile monthly plan to prepaid plan. Best thing I ever did - went from about $120 / mth to $25. Sure, nt as many minutes, but I suddenly found out I rather save the $$ than use minutes on useless conversations (which I can totally make from my landline.

Saving $30 a month!!!

We saved about $30 a month by switching to a new phone provider. We use Elevate Communications (www.GoElevate.com)

When you order your phone if you enter JL3 as the rep code it will knock off all of the initial start-up costs and give your unlimited phone service for $29/month.

Cash back websites

Also, when shopping online use cash back websites like billsback.com - I'm going to use it for my christmas shopping and estimate I will save between 10% and 15%. This is great in a tight economy.

I also use mint.com to track my cashflow, mint rules!
