unfocused capitalism

Unfocused capitalism is and should be unsustainable. By unfocused I mean capitalism that sole function is to funnel money to the few instead of all. The economy that lifts all boats equally percentagewise, is sustainable. An economy that does not benefit the masses does not have a stable foundation. With 70 to 80 percent of the wealth of our country being owned by 3 to 5% of the people and the leftovers being divided amongst the remaining 95 or so percent the inequality is sure to have negative social consequences. Currently we have over 2 million inmates, prisons are a growth industry, we probably build prisons faster than we build inner city schools. Without mainstream dreams we will continue to have counterproductive behaviors by our disenfranchised youth.

White Christians

Wait another twenty to thirty years and the White Christians will be the minority.

If you look at the history of this country, you'll see we learned from mistakes which is only human. We still learn every day. The country always adapts to change. Heck, look at our President now. African American and I'm proud to see that. By the way, I'm a White Christian born and raised here.

We've come a very long way since 1776. Don't get me wrong, as I agree with all that's been said. We screw up, learn from it, and become better people generation after generation.

GREED is the most important lesson we will learn this time around. I found a little frugality goes a long way. There are more important things in life than just money, although it's nice to have money, but in these times we need to adapt to change once again. I know I save every penny I am able to. That's pretty hard with twin daughters too.

Re:Why are we fighting

While I am very proud of our men and women in the service, I do not believe that we are fighting for the good of all. We are not always the "good guys".The good for our nation, you bet.He who controls oil controls the world. Here is an article ,"http://seekingalpha.com/article/113152-geopolitical-energy-centered-on-the-caspian-sea-part-1-of-2".Just to put it into perspective. We are and have always been imperialist for the good of corporations. We just happen to get the crumbs. The sad fact is that all this is greased by the blood of our loved ones.By the way, my son served and my daughter is going in. I just wish that they would serve for the right reasons and not just for corporate profits.

Stop running, stop flooding

Everytime a better place or a better career is highlighted on the web, the risk for overpopulation or professional flooding will become a reality thus creating the same bubble that will burst. We need to retain or draw people into ALL states and cities, and we need to create new careers to ensure a good supply for ALL people. As areas become desolate and careers become overcrowded, external control mechanisms result --meaning--people will be forced to flex, tolerate, and accept less in way of satisfaction, pay, freedoms, etc. Its an easy equation.

Maybe we need to steadfast, tolerate less, accept nothing more than crap. Maybe we need to innovate in our own backyards and join together for strength.

Maybe this whole entire collapse -as that what it was-was partly created to control wealth in this country, retard individual progress, minimize capitalism, and keep the reins of power confined. it was all alittle too abrupt to not be planned and a button was pushed. There is more to this than we all know, most likely. But the people, taxpaying law-abiding citizens, have suffered for it all.

And as a side note--Officials should be spending as much time and energy as they are on healthcare on securing borders/illegal immigration/gang infiltration--now that would save resources and jobs and even create a few --not to mention free birth deliveries for people that do not need more children!

And BTW, before we let foreign trained workers into this country--current citizens should be allotted work first--maybe America needs to put up a sign--temporarily closed. America has become a small 10 by 10 inflated raft trying to hold up billions--it just cant work--do the math.

Sounds familiar

The way you describe it sounds like what happened when the so-called WHITE Christians came to America to "convert" everyone. Anyone that didn't convert had to die. Heck, a lot of people died just b/c they weren't white! God bless AMERICA, lol. And yes, I was born here, my family is from the USA...but white America seems to have forgotten the extremism that this country was initially FOUNDED on.

Why are we fighting?

Hey Jo- the reason we are fighting in Afghanistan is simple- if only you open your eyes to see. There is a group of religious fanatics out there whose goal is to destroy America and our western lifestyle. Extreme Islam believes in "convert or die". Theirs is a 'no choice' religion: no choices in health care and education for females, no choices in music, reading, shopping, etc for anyone. No life choices- just submission to their extreme vision of Islam or death.

These fanatics believe they are directed by their god- who is NOT the same God worshipped by Christians and Jews. We can either stop them over there or fight them on our own soil because that's where they will bring the war if they get their way. Seen any suicide bomber attacks on your way to the grocery store lately?

And yes, my family serves our country. Every one of my 4 children and their spouses served or are currently serving. Some have been deployed to the Middle East. One was wounded in Iraq. One served 2 deployments in Iraq as a Marine. Another is on his 6th deployment. It's because they serve that you and your family have freedom of choice here at home.

Get educated on this so you know the truth.

lucky

unemployment at 10% means employment at 90%, let's stop crying and get back to basics. God Bless America

JP of FL @ Dec 04, 2009 15:11:48 PM

jo

What are you complaining about?

here is a nation that is allowing the government to keep our troops - our families in a war in Afghanistan - exposing our family members to IED's etc. allowing them to come home to face the rest of thier lives with PTSD and other disorders - not to mention loss of limbs, loss of marriage and family to fight a war -- that no one even knows why we are fighting in the first place....

and we are worried about jobs?

bets thing is to keep the minds of teh American people off what truly matters by keeping their attention focused on something else--- like jobs and the economy instead of the well being of our loved ones
