VA and Military Hopitals Provide Substandard Medicine for Retirees - Avoid Pt2

I was injured in a traffic collision and went to the Naval Hospital ER by ambulance and made another within three days. Totally negligent in disregarding my complaints and condition. Provided unrelated diagnostics and even made errors in the medical record that failed to indicate the cause and failed to treat for my complaints of head, neck, and shoulder injuries. All injuries were later revealed by another facility. Why were they so negligent and incompetent? I think it was because I'm a retiree but they don't care and consequently provide a substandard level of treatment.

A typical entry was "patient will improve by taking adequate dosage of pain medication". Took a pelvic X-Ray and CAT of my stomach though I complained of head, neck, back, and shoulder pain. I even had trouble lifting my right arm!Seemed to intentionally avoid addressing my complaints. Though I eventually filed a formal complaint requesting explanation and record corrections they were very belligerent about not making mistakes. Within a week I went to the VA Hospital and the attending doctor was more understanding and accurate by taking X-Rays that revealed problems in my neck and shoulders while scheduling an MRI. Surprisingly, he explicitly advised me that the VA is not a place to get treated for injuries! I thought this was absurd but what I had learned after nearly a year of delays, seeing different doctors clueless about my condition but ready to provide pain shots, two needless and torturous physical therapy processes, and even having a scheduled surgery get canceled without notice or without rescheduling validates his advice. Their treatment method is through pharmaceuticals and injections. These are not remedies. My faith and confidence is not just shaken but I abhor and resent what they did to me.

Medical treatment at military hospitals and the VA is not standard. The quality is a myth. I retired and live in San Diego. The Naval and VA hosptial here is negligent, corrupt, without oversight, and rife with cronyism. The situation is compounded by rogue agencies such as the VA's Regional Counsel and Medical Care Recovery Units that shake veteran's down with charges for services that aren't provided, without verifiying the treatment, and without providing a bill that itemizes the services. There are laws that govern but they think vets are ignorant and subservient so they try to victimize them. They even tried to withold my access to my medical records. I'm developing a lawsuit and asked applicable legislative committees to investigate the negligence and fraud. The current debate on health reform would seemingly address this but the worst actually happens with government-run medicine.

My husband has been job-locked for 30 years...while I was able to move and advance my career, he was stuck because he had at one time free health ins. For the past 10 years the premiums just keep going up, up, up. I don't know what the real solution is, I just know that Health Ins. is a rip off and way too expensive...no rebates for healthy people, no incentives for those who flood the E.R.'s with non-emergency cases - colds, flu, rashes, etc. We need to have a system that rewards good health and eating habits and does nothing for the others who continue to drive up the cost. We need a pay as you go system...I want coverage for Z,X & Y, but not for C, B & A... One guy at my husband's shop has 7 kids!!!, 3 different mothers!!! We are paying for that coverage - the same rate he is - just not fair!!!

We need to take care of our current responsibilities. We all agree that health care needs some major adjustments. This current administration is reacting without considering the real WHO are paying for this. Believe me, we're paying for this.

I own a small business. How does forcing me to pay for something I currently pay 0 for allow me to hire more people? How does it encourage people to start a business when it's just one more tax employers have to file, pay and do bookkeeping for?

You can't use medi-care as an example

The medi-care plans we know today will go away under govt. option. The cuts in medi-care spending will begin 2010 as will all the other methods to be used to help pay pay for it. Obama and the democratic congress have been very clear it will be 3 to 5 years to implement reform. That's just one of the ways to keep costs low. Make us pay for them for years so they can stockpile some $$$$.

No Insurance

After seeing health care with and without insurance, I still prefere healthcare with NO INSURANCE - Why do we need a middleman to decide things for us. Insurance companies are the main reason why it is costing us healthcare so much, as they benefit from all sides. Well they have to be "profitable", of course at our cost, at the cost of our health and LIVES. I have not fully understood to pay someone high premium to negotiate service rate for us which in end costs us more....!!! "The negotiated rates" forces service providers to keep their rates high as well, then a common man with no insurance still have to pay $100 for a simple cold or fever. It is shameful of us to buy their insurance services to kill our healthcare and lives. You know how deep their roots are - you can not educate kid in college without insurance...!! You may survive without healthcare but not live your life without insurance.

And to medical "industry", what kind of ethics do you learn in school to charge $100 for a common visit to a patient without insurance and take $30 from insurance and call it even. Why can't you charge the same???
