Overrated Career: Chiropractor

If it works don't know it

After being treated by a DO for several years for severe upper back pain, with absolutely no relief except drugs, I was advised to see a chiropractor. I went one time and had immediate relief. He talked to me and told me how to prevent this from reoccurring and since then I have been mostly pain free, unless I put my back in an awkward position for a long period of time. I just wish I had known about chiropractors sooner. I know that there are those out for the mighty buck but I know DO's, and MD's with the same ethics. I just feel if you can feel better without pills or surgery go for it!!

Marty has it all wrong!

Is that what it is all about Marty?...Recognition by the medical field, insurance, pharma is the way to go if you want to make a difference in peoples lives? Well it's not Marty. As chiropractic continues to gain ground due to its increased utilization, it will no longer matter to you or anyone else viewing the shallow ground what the medi-pharma business thinks. People want chiropractic and chiropractic wants to serve the world.

Alive and Well

Chiropractic is alive and well. As mentioned earlier, chiropractic is becoming a household word synonymous to regaining health and maintaining wellness. Everyone needs chiropractic care. Spread the word...CHIROPRACTIC!!

History is PROVEN!

For those who are skeptics about Chiropractic. The answer is simple. You don't know your history. You don't have to check out a book at a library, or even phone a friend. Just google the history of Chiropractic and it will be revealed unto you the power of it practice. Daniel David Palmer was the father of Chiropractic and he actually healed a man's deafness using these techniques. If that is not proof enough for you, then you are simply looking too hard for a reason not to like Chiropractic and it's believers.

JA

PLease everyone needs to come to the realization that chiropractic is just simply quackery. Does it make money ? yes for the better quack who is able to play the patients ignorance of the human body. Having said this , yeah.. many people I know hwo are chiropractors hate what they do.. why is that? not enough money? not enough crdibility? not enough respect? not enough patients? not enough what? it is a terrible field to be in. being a student for the guy is student in this conversations.. please be hones to yourself? you have to come up with all kinds of crap to make yourself feel good about the greates mistake of your life...you wanna be a quack you don';t have to spend that much money .. just get some books on subluxation available to anyone.. a video on spinaal manipulation and become a nurse practicioner.. they get reimbursed $85 dollars for an adjustment wile a chirpractor struggles to collect $25 a patient..that is terrible..

Amen to John Hoffman...

There are many excellent chiropractors out there!! and ones that practice ART-Active Release Technique for soft tissue injuries have benefited me over physical therapy.

I believe in this technique 100%. However, in the state of MN, I think there is only one in my area and he is excellent!! I would recommend him to all!!

I couldn't walk without severe pain from a previous injury and when I do have pain it is manageable. It gets aggrevated by certain movements or standing on my feet too long. However, that was five years ago. I had been to a physical therapist prior to this and nothing she did helped.

Also, I have had excellent success with the ProAdjuster or drop table for my upper back and neck, these tools are awesome!! No manual manipulations which causes me to tense more, etc.

For those chiro's in it for the money and exhaust patient health insurance funds...well, I won't say what I think of those. Many people don't have health insurance and the ones that do...it is expensive. We rely on insurance plans.

If you, as a chiro, know that you can't help a patient, refer them on, before exhausting all of their chiro benefits, which isn't alot now days.

Wake Up America

I am also a current student of Chiropractic and I know for a fact the science works. I was once a non believer until I got to experience care from a Chiropractor. I wish at that time I could see this doctor every week of my life. I am very much a skeptic, but I never felt better and more alive. I know that if my spine can be manipulated so that my body works properly without allopathic drugs, than I want it. There are a lot of people in this country who are simply living bad and look to drug therapy for the cure. Once you begin to realize that the body is the central healing system, we will begin to appreciate care that compliments that, such as Chiropractic. These are Doctors that spend years training and taking the same classes as M.D.'s. So if this country is going to embrace overall prevention cure, from health care professionals, then Chiropratic is the way I and my family and friends choose to go. Go Chiropractors!!!!

My 2 cents

I am achiropractor thta has opened over 50 clinincs since graduating in 1985 and I am currently out. I love chiropractic but we have and our being pushed out by PT's and others. I really can't do anything that I want to do anymore and the margins are horrible, not counting being tied down to prcatice 5 to 6 days a week. Its not a terrible life but not a great one either.

In reply to "Not all true"

you cannot compare the starting salaries of resident physicians (MD) vs new chiropractors. There is a HUGE difference. There is a light at the end of residenyc, when you are a full practicing physician, the money will be there for you. You don't have to fight for patients like chiropractors do. For most chiropractors, it will be a dead end job.

Chiropractic is a great career and a great way of life!

As a current student, I definitely feel that I made the right choice when choosing between chiropractic and mainstream medicine. I have seen with my own eyes how much chiropractic care can make a difference in the lives of everyday people and those that are suffering from chronic pain and/or illnesses. As with anything in life, there will be people that are skeptical of something that they have never been exposed to. As more and more people begin to experience the benefits of chiropractic care, it will become a household name. Most people go to the optometist for the health of their eyes and to the dentist for the health of their teeth. It is only a matter of time before ALL of these people are going to the chiropractor for the health of their spine as well, which will inevitably lead to greater health overall.
