COSMETOLOGY

MY NAME IS ROCHELLE COLQUHOUNE AND I AM PRESENTLY A COSMETOLOGY STUDENT AT KNOX COMMUNITY COLLEGE.THE IGNOMINIOUS BEHAVIOUR OF SOME OF THE STUDENTS IS A COMPLETE DISASTER. HOWEVER, I AM DETERMINED TO REMAIN FOCUSED ON MY GOAL.COSMETOLOGY DOES NOT SUCKS,IT'S THE WAY A PERSON THINKS ABOUT IT THAT MAKES THEM SAY SO.ALTHOUGH I DON'T HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD AS YET, I'M BEING EXPOSED TO INTERESTING TOPICS TO BROADEN MY KNOWLEDGE.AS A COSMETOLOGIST I ALSO PLAN TO PERSUE A CAREER IN TRICHOLOGY AND TO MAKE A NEW LINE OF BEAUTY PRODUCTS.COSMETOLOGY IS GREAT! YOU CAN EVEN ENTER THE MEDICAL FIELD THROUGH COSMETOLOGY.PERSONS ARE NOW ESTABLISHING MEDICAL SPAS,CLINICS& COSMETIC STORES.I WOULD LIKE TO BE A TEACHER OF COSMETOLGY & TRICHOLOGY AND WHEN I RECEIVE MY DOCTERATE I WILL OPEN MY OWN HAIR & SCALP CLINIC.

Cosmetology

I am 22 years old and have been a stylist for 4 years now. I HATE this job, which is why I am currently in college. My feet, legs, back, shoulders, hands, wrists, and everything inbetween hurt all the time especially after a 10 to 12 hour day!!!! I hate to put up with the bitchy clients, especially those who complain about their service everytime you see them and still return for your services for some unknown reason!!!! I stay busy @ my salon but the pay still SUCKS!!!! I have no health insurance, retirement, and if you work in a solon where you are considered self employed the taxes you will pay are ungodly....try about $2500!!!! There are only 2 upsides....one you have a flexible schedule and two it beats flipping burgers!!!

how many hours do you work?

I am 30 and am thinking about doing cosmetology, or aesthetics. I am just wondering typically how many hours do you have to work? I would not want to do full time, just part time. Is this possible in this field? I dont want to get into something that keeps me away from home 40 hours a week!

thank you!

Hair stylists health!

After working with hair color products and other hair care things that are full of toxins and chemicals for years now, I noticed that I was always tired and just didn't feel very good anymore. One of my stylist friends gave me this stuff that supposedly rids your body of the toxins that build up in our bodies after working with all this dye and stuff. It has turned out to be an awesome thing, a couple of these natural pills a day and I could really tell a difference after a while. It's kinda like how I felt when I started eating more organic foods a year or so ago, it just makes me feel better. The product is called cosme-care detoxification and it has this chlorella stuff in it (like that "Naked" juice green machine has in it). I have recommended it to all my co-workers and wanted to spread the word. I'd be interested to hear if any other hairdressing people have had success with it.

false advertisement

Marinello School of Beauty in Seaside,California is all false advertisement. They don't have supplies to work with. We have to pretend we are cutting hair because there isn't enough supplies for all the students. The classes are full, not enough space for all the students to work. The class is hot because there are so many students. It's noisy and you cant concentrate. I am paying 18,000 to share my stuff with other students... REDICULOUS ....All of the others schools are nice with brand new things. Seaside Campus has outdated equipment. They make it sound all nice when. I AM VERY DISAPOINTED!!

Choosing new career

Leaving paralegal and deciding between LPN and cosmo. Might be too old to get work, I am 51. A couple of years ago, I got aesthetics and manicuring licenses but have not been able to develop much because of other job obligation which has now ended. I am in central Massachusetts and wonder what you guys think about my job prospects with all three licenses? All those stories about the bad economy are scary, but so is the purported stress and responsibility of nursing! Would love your input. Thank you!
