This article's not well researched. I think this idea is only on the "best businesses list" because it sounds good. Those two examples are new businesses and not proven. The barriers to entry are great: knowledge, contacts, retail experience, time to research local and regional sources and markets and build a client base while maintaining relationships with your suppliers. That salary (95K) listed is for a wholesale produce buyer in a completely different industry (international wholesale brokering and buying) and, indeed, is the antithesis of the online farmer's market. Show me the business model. Show me where the profit is in this.

Farmers are hard workers, not everyone can get to local farmers in areas. Starting a market for flowers, pumpkins and produce.

Had a few questions:
-What are the sources of loans for such a business venture?
-What are the typcial costs associated with storage of the product (refrigeration, any special packing requirements, shipping costs and additional manpower)?
-What is the turnaround time for such a venture (i.e. when will 'real' income be realized)?
