PARTNERSHIP

I think Partnership with friends and or relatives is not a bad idea. For some people, it could be the root cause of a broken relationships, and for others, it can be the beginning of their living a comfortable life. It really depends on whom you happen to be in partnership with. Expect bad results to happen if you got involved with partners who by nature are having these kinds of characters, like being greedy, lazy, backbiter, know it all, nobody can dictate, nor suggest ideas, I'm above anyone else, I should get the highest salary and bonuses, just to name a few,. but different result happens when partners should just have this character "RESPECT".

three times is enough

I have started several business with so called friends of many years. And all of them cost me a more money then you realize. All of them great ventures each a speciality but the other side want to run the whole show. And it hurt when they took my money an ran. I would never recommend going into business with a friend. Unless you want to lose money and friends.

Why risk a friend or family relationship?

While I realize many have succeeded in partnering with friends and family, why risk it? I've gone into business with both and the result has been the same in both instances. When one person does more work than the other, resentment builds. Am I getting paid equal to the value I bring this venture? Should I take controlling interest based on this value?

Even with the best intentions, these partnership ultimately can prove to be challenging and even destructive. I'd rather keep my relationships strong and separate that from my professional life.

Partnering in a smart way

I'm happy to provide additional commentary on the ways to establish lasting partnerships with family members (having done it/lived it) and with third parties, too (also having done that/lived that). We just virtualized our company, too, such that we are partners but located in different cities and this brings all sorts of dynamics and communication requirements to the fore.
