ENDING GLOBAL POVERTY

MR SACHS DOES NOT ADDRESS THE WAR-LORDS AND REBELS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN GAINING POWER, AND FOR THE MOST PART DON'T CARE ABOUT ENDING POVERTY FOR THE PEOPLE THEY WANT TO RULE.

Ending global poverty - why?

The proposed programs to end poverty by investing funds from developed nations into impoverished nations are good - at least for part of the problem. The question of motivation enters the picture. Why do we want to end poverty? Is it merely to create new markets for our products, thereby making us richer? Is it to create societies that look just like ours, along with the built-in problems we face internally? What do developing nations lose by accepting our solutions? Why hasn't the money that governments and NGO's have already invested done more to combat poverty? Is China an example of an impoverished nation becoming quickly richer by free market investing? Ah. So many questions, so few answers!
