They can rot

I would never go back to that company. The politics were brutal, and I am much better collecting and looking for a different hopefully better job. I am glad to here other people saying the same thing. It is to imagine working with a sicker bunch of people.

Its a sad world

I am one of the victims in this cruel world.. 1st they lay off, next they re-hire someone cheaper than you cos they lay off too many. What can I say?

the worker

well it is always the little guy who gets the ax but if we little guys who does spend the paycheck and we the little guy who keeps the encomaney running i say to the corporate world if you cut enough little workers who do buy your stuff and i can see why the restraunt is down i can see why the wal mart is down and i can see why the stock in stors are still there i can see why no vacations for the little people i can see it do you think that enough rich people spend money to keep the us encomany goingwell think again with 14million people out of work at 1.00 per hour is 14 million dollars being lost and if 2.00 per hr is 28 million and 3 is 42 million so lust do the math without the worker makeing the money there is nobody to spend it so put the people back to work and it will all turn around but when the customer dosent come back because you cut the payroll for chepper workers have you ever asked were did that customer go and how much did you really save this is a good question for all ceo a lotof them dont have a clue on the front line you cant teach that in school you have to work it have a good day

Get real

Do you think the percentage of the employers will hire back the employees that made $22.00-$35.00 hour and seventeen to twenty-five years of service there vs a NEW HIRE and pay them $8.50-$15.00 an hour. Do the math.

They do the look at the bottom line of the profit sheet each month or quarterly.

joe

Today's ( or maybe any day's) situation is ripe for a business (let's call it) GameChanger - a company that offers sth like clout or safety insurance for employees/workers - something like a bargaining chip for workers against their employers so that they are not totally at mercy of their employers - something like a union (which also works for the interest of the employees) but with real financial clout.

People make ALL the difference

As a Sr. Energy Industry Analyst, my position was eliminated from the district office in which I worked, with no offer of relocation, and moved back to a younger, boss's favorite kiss-ass at the corporate office. The district office personnel were aces and I would go back to work for any of them, in any position, in a heartbeat. Major corporations need to know that their VP's and Managers are clawing their way up the ladder. And I, who loved my job, was good at it and had high evaluations, bonus and stock options, interpersonal skills, updated training etc., was kicked to the curb. True: my industry has suffered because of recent political and recessionary travails. But the decision process about who goes, who stays and WHY is still a managerial decision. And I was too busy working hard and getting older to make EXTRA special trips to the corporate office to kiss butt. Silly me.

question?

What if u r laid off and collecting umemployment and the company that laid u off while u were out on medical leave shortly after a sexual harrassment issue offers u u'r job back in a different dept.but u would rather pull u'r eyes out then be subjected to the carnal treatment and backstabbing that has been done to u that has made u too skitish to want to go back and u turn down the position..do u lose u'r unemployment?

...So They Shall Reap II

I could not agree more with the first comment. I would never go back to work for the commercial real estate company that "eliminated" my position only to replace me "temporarily" with a totally unqualified male (I am female). I am not the only one, other senior level females have "left" the company. The recession has provided a very convenient excuse for the Good Old Boys network to thrive and flourish. I have a long career ahead me and this Legacy will not be forgotten. I will never recommend anyone to work for or do business with this company.

As they sow, so shall they reap

I've been laid off or even fired without notice or good cause more than once. In each case, I would never work for those companies who shall remain nameless ever again, even if they invited me back at higher pay. They know who they are. Once betrayed, I will never be loyal to any organization that betrays me. That is why I will never work again for any company that kicked me to the curb because of their internal politics or ruthless pursuit of ever higher profits at the expense of everyone else.
