More Employers Are Slashing or Freezing Pay

serously though

Remember what that Father of all things Capitalist, Adam Smith said.

"What are the common wages of labour, depends everywhere upon the

contract usually made between those two parties, whose interests are

by no means the same. The workmen desire to get as much, the masters to

give as little, as possible. The former are disposed to combine in order

to raise, the latter in order to lower, the wages of labour."

This is just a really good time to be boss.

Some employers

are doing this because they HAVE to, and some others, I think, are doing it merely because they CAN in a period of high unemployment and high anxiety.

Funny how the sins of AIG and Bear Stearns and Lehman, etal. have a way of visiting the lowly folks---I think it's a corollary of Reagan's trickle down theory.

Where's the personal income increase?

Looking around, I can only presume that the increase in personal income is happening in local and state employment which just received muli-year contract increases of 4-5% per year.

All this going on while those in the private secter are still losing jobs!
