Existing Homeowner

I am an existing homeowner and have been out of work for approximately 1 year since 2007. I have had jobs off an on and did have some savings at first along with my unemployment, but now the last time that I was laid off, there was no savings left, and even though I got a job a lot quicker, I still got behind on my house payment and car payment. I am a single mother with a son that has severe medical problems, trying to get SSI, which takes forever. So much red tape in this country. He has no health insurance and trying to get the medication that he needs, takes up much of what I bring in and then keeping up with everything else. Help for existing homeowners would be beneficial and not only those who are purchasing new homes. The Banks do not always help you even though they received all that money from the government. If I could just lower my rate and lower my payment, this would help. Re-financing is not an option, since this adds thousands to your loan in costs. I can see why people give up, but I have to make for my family.

think wisely

Its really sad to see so many families with upside down loans.. I'm just BLESSED I didn't buy at that time.. All that activity during that time scared us and decided to put the home buying aside, instead we kept renting. Now, we are looking for a home and I think there couldn't be a better time especially, with the incentives being offered. Let's ALWAYS pray about what we want and ask for guidance before persuing.....GOD BLESS AMERICA

yeah, what about the thousands of people that foreclosure their houses just to get ride off their high mortgages. Now they live FOR FREE for at least 1 year or more which is the time the bank/goverment/ court takes to do all the paperwork. THEY SAVE THAT MONEY AND THEN THEY WILL BUY A CHEAPER AND BETTER HOUSE LATER. Then the government praise them with "stimulus" money ($8000) with the money that belong to all of us, the taxpayers.

We struggle with our mortgage, doing the impossible to pay it. We don't see any rewards, we have cut all type of enterteinment, eat out or buy basic stuff (clothes, shoes) we are just fixing our old stuff just to be on time with the mortgage. Months ago like many people we lost our jobs, my husband, thanks God, found a new job and we are surviving with that.

What about the good payers????

Many people that I know just don't care and take advantage of the system: going to foreclosure, living for free and later on having tax credit for that.

how convenient!!!!

HA Get Real People

Fair....you say Fair....you have a home be happy!!! if we all bought Google when it came out (IPO) we would all be rich...right. well you bought a home at a not so smart time... didn't you look at the fact that what goes up will come down and how far you go up depends on how hard you hit the ground!! this is not new... it history.. over and over again...if it looks to good to be true it probably is.... the Government is trying to fix America so let them ..besides you can re-fi or better yet invest in stocks...hint,hint they are at 30 year lows.... but im sure you already bought BofA when it was a few bucks now reaching 17..right oppertunity..look for it get educated and catch the wave... again it happens every 20 to 30 years......... got it. stop complaing and do something about it

Current home owners

I have to agree with Michelle. What about those of us who bought at the height of the market? I bought my home in 2005 and for much more than it was probably worth. I am in an upside down mortgage now. I pay on time each month to keep in my home. And now my irresposible family memebers are buying homes for the single purpose, the $8k and have no business getting ito a home only to have it forclosed on them 3 years later! Let's think about this. Giving people $8k is not going to help; you want to help, how about a 'good payers' reward for those who are still in their homes and have not tried refinancing 1000's of times. Insurance agencies do it for people without incidents on their driving records; what about homeowners??

Current Home Owners

What about the current people who have owned their home and pay on time..We get nothing? We all should get something. Times are tough I struggle every month to make sure my mortgage is on time..but yet I suffer for it and don't get nothing..How is that fair to the people! You need to revisit this and help the people who are in there homes now doing the right thing! I purchased my home in 2007..If i would of know I would of waited to purchase. I got a 6% rate and my daughter just bought a house last month and got a 4.5% fixed and 8 grand..Seriously..Lets be fair to everyone.

Additional tax credits to home buyers.

Lets finish one opportunity before we start talking about another. Don't give the procrastinators something to think about. It is just another reason to put off a purchase now for a better deal later. If your trying to hurt sales and damage the economy this discussion is the way to do it.
