Question

I built a house...with saved money.....on my parents land..I have no HUD-1 form or anything like that. What kind of documentation will I need?

Jamie of KY @ Nov 10, 2009 18:20:35 PM

Be specific, and patient.

I am a loan processor and I know all about the SNAFU's that can occur purchasing a new home. This is a tax credit, NOT a refund or return.

I have a few suggestions for you.

1. ALWAYS...ALWAYS get the name and E address of who you are speaking with when you are called OR call to get information.

Sometime 5-6 people work on the same file at the same time.

2.Send in the required information in a timely mannor, and CC yourself a copy, and keep it in a file on your computer to prove you sent it.

3. All government agencies move very slowly. Be patient.

Must Sell Current Home??

Must a move up home buyer necessarily sell their current home to qualify? Or can they use their current home as a rental property and still obtain the credit?

Be persistent

We purchased our place in March and are still awaiting the credit. We have since got our congressman involved and are now working with a taxpayer advocate. We got all the standard responses and excuses from the IRS that everyone else is getting on here. I would advise people to just wait to claim it on their 2009 return. An ammendment gets scrutinized in general and now with all of this fraud out there, it hurts the people who do things the right way. We are becoming a people of no moral standards anymore. CHEAT, CHEAT, CHEAT seems to be the answer for a lot of society these days. For those of you who play by the book...be patient and persistent. The IRS folks are under fire right now and they have a hard time deciphering who is telling the truth or not. Not their fault. I would recommend reporting ANYONE who you may know that is committing fraud.

Where is my return?

My wife and I purchased a home on the 10th of June. We did everything correctly in sending in the forms and everything. The beginning of August we receive a letter stating they need another copy of our HUD. We send it in, and the beginning of October they send us a letter saying we will hear from them on the 31st. This is starting to get ridiculous! I called the IRS and they cannot give me a straight answer of where our money is. Where is my return? I sent my form and info in well before all this mess started.

question ?

If a house is not financed thru a mortgage company but thru another family member, does the buyer still qualify for the stimulus money?

Rob of Long Ilsand, NY

I purchased my first house this past July 2009. Needles to say, I already filed my 208 tax returns before I bought this home. Can I still re-file my 2008 returns (again) and get this tax credit -- or is it better to wait until the end of 2009 and file @ that time?

QUESTION

IS THERE A DEADLINE ON WHICH YOU CAN AMMEND YOU TAXES FROM LAST YEAR TO GET THE TAX CREDIT NOW?

HOW CAN PEOPLE CLAIM THE TAX CREDIT WITH OUT EVEN PURCHACING A NEW HOME, THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD GET IN SERIOUS SHIT, WHAT A BUNCH OF HORRIBLE PEOPLE

ROSLYN of NY @ Oct 28, 2009 15:29:06 PM

I got this credit

I bought my first home this year because of the credit. It took forever, but I got mine. I expected I would have to show some form of proof before it would be issued, but there was really no check made. I paper refiled with the tax credit and no one questioned a thing.

I thought it was a bit too easy.
