Neighbor's Barking Dogs Trigger $25K Lawsuit

Chandler Barking Dog

If you have a dog and someone goes through the trouble to ask you to control it I suggest that you take immediate action. As a continuing victim to my Hillbilly neighbor I can't imagine how dog owners will deny a problem exists.

If you love your dog then you will take steps to control the stupidity.

I have talked to the neighbor a number of times. I have contacted my homeowners association, and I have called the police. Calling the police is tough to do when you want to be a good neighbor, but apparently that hasn't helped anyway.

My wife wants to keep things friendly so to honor her I have been living with the barking. This of course is no solution. There are many solutions to the problem so I cannot fathom how someone can justify the ignorance.

Enough of one of my many diatribes on this matter. They know they have a problem. All the neighbors know they have a problem. Unfortunately - Sometimes a Hillbilly is Hillbilly.

Sadly enough - I look forward to the day when the dog, (Not The Dog's Fault) meets his maker.

This is a ridiculous trial

If he is following all the rules......such as fenced in yard.....not letting them run the neigborhood...and such...then what is the fuss...seems to me the neighbor who filed the suit...should get a great big tall fence.....and big locks on a gate...and lock themselves in it so they cant see the world around them...wake up people...there are those who mindlessly let their dogs and cats and whatever...loud motorcycles, cars, yelling and screaming while they are standing in the middle of the road.....playing loud music....whatever! This is the world around us....i think if someone took the time to take a few dogs off the streets..or even from our overcrowded shelters...*if your looking go there there are many) and put up a fence....and takes care of them...then leave him alone to have his dogs.....maybe that neighbor should adopt a dog then and the others too...and have a big bbq in the summer.....if not move to a quieter neighborhood...geez!! or how about this....take the money ur spending on this senseless law suit and do something good with it...like donate to a charitable organization!

And you think you have problems?

I have a neighbor who lives less than 150 feet from me, these people have 12-14 dogs, 2/3's of those who are tied up outside and the others are kept inside. They rent a small mobile home which has had no running water for almost a year, the smell from the place is horrid. The grass has never been cut this summer at all & its almost 2 feet high. These dogs bark almost 24/7. I have video & audio clips of the dogs of different times of the day. We can't sleep, I've been late for work on many occasions, last week, I had a headache for 3 days. Its almost impossible to sit on the porch & enjoy a summer evening, if the smell doesn't get to you, the barking dogs will. I've been to the Sheriff's Dept, the County Health Dept,I've been in contact with the Dog Warden. They tell me there is nothing they can do because we live in a rural area The Health Dept sent a letter to the renters who own the dogs and the property owner over a month ago, giving them 2 weeks to restore water or vacate the premises. Lot of good that done. Now they say there is very little they can do for me. I'm so fustrated This has been an issue for almost 18 months.

Teacher

Speaking of poor grammar, let’s see what I found wrong with your writings, John of CA

Error number 1, sentence number 1, is “you’d” even a word?

Error number 2, sentence number 5, never end a sentence with a preposition “We are all fortunate to not live next to someone such as yourself either.” Wow, no comment!

Error number 3, sentence number 6, “dont” is spelt don’t and should never be used in formal writing.

Error number 4, sentence number 8, “WILL” all caps, what is that?

Wrote as you would put it, I cant take this anymore either. I will stop righting this so I can learn how to reed better.

Educate yourself before you educate others.

neighbors barking dog

Not only does my neighbors dog bark at us all the time, but he barks for hours relentlessly. We put up a $1,400 7 ft fence so that he could not see us and he still barks. Animal control has been out 4 times and I have filed a complaint with the police. Also, this little weeny dog from hell has viciously attacked my son, bitten him repeatedly and tried to bite all of my children's friends. My children do not want to go outside and play because of his barking. In my opionion, anyone who lets their dog keep barking at a child that it has attacked and bitten to the point that he does not want to play outside is guilty of mental child abuse! These people are nuts!!! Any ideas - short of hiring a hitman - can't shoot him - I'll go to jail - figure that one - the dog has more rights than me or my children!

Are you kidding me!

Some of the responses about barking dogs not being a big deal are obviously made be people who are not suffering from listening to their neighbors dog barking non stop for hours on end. I envy you. It wasnt until I sent a video/audio clip of my neighbors dog barking and contacted animal control 2 times that they finally got the hint. Force fed noise of any kind, but especially of a lonely, bored, unloved, unexcersied dog will drive anyone crazy. To the point where the stress of not being able to hear yourself think causes physical problems. To these people making the ridiculous statments, give me your address so I can come sit in front of your house when your trying to relax, sleep, enjoy family time so I can do something freaking annoying to you. Playing my music loud, flood lights in your yard, reciting poetry at the top of my lungs. Unreasonble, unnecessary, prolonged force fed noise of any kind is a nuisance.

Dear No Excuses.

I think you ought to set up an experiment.Ask a close friend to live at your home for a few days, Now have them live there day in and day out listening to your dogs' voices(Barking)! I'm sure that in a very short time, your friend will let you know how annoying it can be to hear dogs' voices all the time, you will have a better understanding as to what people like us go through with neighbors who don't interact with their dogs. Just put them in the fenced yard without a thought and walk away for 4,6,8 hours. That is the real reason that these dogs are barking, they are bored and ignored. We have neighbors that think it is ok to leave their pug barking all day. And when I asked them very nicely, not to leave hime out so much , that it wasn't fair to the dog, I was told, that they are just LITTLE BARKS. I then ask what makes her think that I want to hear her dog's LITTLE BARKS all day.Since that arguement they put up a six foot fence, and guess what, the dog still barks, I think they thought a pvc fence would keep the LITTLE BARKS down!!!!!From the time they moved in it was clear, they didn't want to be friends. Because, most people aren't rude to their friends. If I had a quarter for every LITTLE BARK, then I could buy a house with some acres surrounding me, and pray that my closest neighbor ,owning a voicetrous dog was down wind. Dont' get me wrong, I have a dog that I got from a animal foster home and she isn't left unattended in our yard, so that means, she doesn't un-necessarly bark.Dogs should have time to bark, but us a owners have to realize when enough is enough. There is a responsiblity to owning a dog, just like haveing children, driving a car, riding a bike, If everyone, once in a while would put themselves in other peoples shoes, the would might just be a better place to live. It all starts with an act of kindness to your neibors.
