Foreclosure Rate Lower for Illegal Immigrants

By Luke Mullins

In North Carolina, individuals without legal permanent resident status can still qualify for what is known as an "ITIN mortgage" as long as they have an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN), a sound credit history, and proof that they have filed their taxes.

And according to the Charlotte Observer, "borrowers who have ITIN mortgages have proven to be some of the sturdiest as foreclosures climb to record highs."

From the Charlotte Observer:

According to estimates from the Hispanic National Mortgage Association and local lenders, less than 1 percent of ITIN loans have gone into foreclosure. That compares with 1.2 percent for prime mortgages and nearly 11 percent for subprime mortgages given to borrowers with poor credit history, according to the latest available data from the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Bigotry and racism aside

For the purposes of a healthy economy, we should not focus so much on who received the loan but rather that stricter standards for loaning money equals fewer foreclosures. PS the US Census came up with the same outcome as the Hispanic National Mortgage Association.

AMERICAN IGNORANCE!

These so called " Illegals" actually have EITN which are issued to them by the United States Government! They pay their taxes and their bills on time! Which is more than we can say for these Americans that refinanced their homes so they could buy a new boat, or Truck, or whatever else it was they really didn't need. Just because these immigrants choose to live with their families, doesn't make them bad people. Some families don't believe in simply putting their parents into a rest home or assisted living homes. They like to take care of their own! How many unemployed white Americans have you ever seen standing in front of a home depot looking for work????? Maybe the problem isn't only ignorance but also pride!
