a college student understanding homeowners?
Assumably this small report isn't this students' full report. It doesn't examine anything in detail, just makes concusions, which are conclusions I would expect any college student to make in any year.
This student doesn't even write a coherent sentence: "She is also less likely to consider herself to enjoy being with people." I would hope a student at the Wharton School could actually write complete sentences.
Her closing sentence is a run-on sentence, difficult to comprehend, and self-answers without examining proof or examples. This level of work is not graduate student quality.
In short, her professor should hand this paper back for a complete do-over.

To the first poster:
Valid points, but the author of the paper actually controls for age, marital status, whether they have children (as well as a host of other things), so I don't think the first few explanations you list really rebut the conclusion at all.

Here are the why's from a layman. Renters are younger on average. They may be more single, and with less children. They may be having fun with "first place of their own". They do not have the "tyranny of the should" about needed repairs, maintenance or remodeling. They may be spending more time "out" of the house. They always feel (subject to lease) like they "could" just pick up and move somewhere else. They likely have less worries about relationships with neighbors---because they have a landlord to go to if neighbors are violating rules and being pests.
