Election Reshapes Banking Panels: Kanjorski wins, Dole Loses

Tuesday’s election results will reshape the Congressional committees that will play a key role in the government’s response to the housing crisis next year. (That’s the House Financial Services Committee and the Senate Banking Committee.)

Here’s a look at the look the election outcomes for committee members who were in relatively tight races:

The Winners:

1. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (The Pennsylvania lawmaker is the second-ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee)

2. Rep. Michele Bachmann, Republican from Minnesota

3. Rep. Jim Gerlach, Republican from Pennsylvania

4. Rep. Peter Roskam, Republican of Illinois

5. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, Republican of West Virginia

6. Rep. Scott Garrett, Republican of New Jersey

7. Rep. Dean Heller, Republican of Nevada

8. Rep. Patrick McHenry, Republican of North Carolina

9. Rep. Travis Childers, Democrat of Mississippi

 

The Losers:

1. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, Republican of North Carolina

2. Rep Chris Shays, Republican of Connecticut

3. Rep. Tom Feeney, Republican of Florida

4. Rep. Don Cazayoux, a Louisiana Democrat

5. Rep. Tim Mahoney, a Democrat from Florida
