The Senate Bailout Bill: How They Voted

Back to blog

Thank you to Senator Inhofe

Thank you to Senator Inhofe, Oklahoma. You are truly a representative of the people who were against this bill at lease 80:1.

Clark of OK @ Oct 03, 2008 16:48:29 PM

Against the majority of America

Thank You to Wyomings Barraso and Enzi for listening to your people and voting no. It didn't affect the outcome, but at least you listened.

Wall Street Bailout Bill

Some of the Senators and Representatives who voted NO on the final version of this bill (passed by the House 10/3) did so for reasons of conscience but others may have done so because they are standing for re-election and feared voter reprisal. Some pundits on TV have suggested that some of the naysayers were given passes to vote No by their party leaders (who knew that'd have enough YES votes without them). That's how the game is played in Washington, fellow suckers!

Another Bailout for the Rich

I'm disappointed that this passed. The only ones who will benefit from this joke of a bill are the rich who can afford to buy lots of stock.

I'm very disappointed with Lamar Alexander of TN for voting yes. You can be sure that his vote will be remembered when his seat is up for re-election.

Tom Hocker of TN @ Oct 03, 2008 14:21:41 PM

Shame on You For Voting Yes

There were plenty of workable alternatives to this mess that didn't involve sticking it to the taxpayers. But these fell on the deaf ears of the House and Senate. If my vote were the only one that counted none of you YES voters would be their next year.

Texas Senators votes yes

My Texas senators voted Yes. They do not represent the people and the people will remember this come election time.

MaddAsHellInTEXAS of TX @ Oct 03, 2008 10:00:38 AM

I strongly oppose the current bailout bill and the pork items that have been inserted into the bill and also the fact that we don't know whose items these are. The American people need to know and it should be made public immmediately who adds and supports these things. Why should the small business owner and the American people suffer in this massive and horrible mess that greedy and irresponsible people, organizations, corporations and government have caused. People are extremely angry and I think more informed than ever and will be looking at the way our elected officials vote and if they really put the needs of their constituents first.

Donna Williams of NY @ Oct 03, 2008 09:25:00 AM

Pork

This is what I want to know.

What senators are responsible for adding the pork?

Please identify what senator goes with what pork.

Also on the house level, who added what pork?

I am an Independant. It makes no difference to me what party they are from.

If any are from my home state I will be voting against them for reelection!

Thank you

Thank you Senators Vitter and Landrieu for voting no. I deeply appreciate that you listened to the wishes of your constituency, including me. Thank you for representing our interests here in Louisiana.

Ashley Boudreaux of LA @ Oct 03, 2008 03:59:34 AM

Thanks

I would like to pass along a sincere thank you to Senator Sessions and Senator Shelby, of Alabama for their "no" vote on the bailout.

Ray of Alabama of AL @ Oct 03, 2008 02:49:14 AM
