Foreclosed Home Becomes Marijuana Farm

By Luke Mullins

Posted: May 8, 2008

A brief note of caution to anyone considering getting involved in the risky—but highly lucrative—business of marijuana agriculture: Pay your mortgage.

That's the clear message of a story reported in the San Bernardino County Sun and brought to our attention by The Real Estate Bloggers regarding the arrest of a California man who was suspected of using his two foreclosed homes to grow pot—and lots of it.

From the San Bernardino County Sun:

Police began investigating the case Thursday when the bank employee inspecting a foreclosed house in the 14500 block of Mammoth Place found pot plants inside... Narcotics officers estimated the street value of the marijuana in the two houses at $4.5 million.

Seriously folks, who doesn ' t have a neighbor with a pot farm out back? Pot farms are like tire swings these days. The key is to pay your mortgage, keep the bank happy, and stay out of trouble.

I mean, just what kind of drug dealers are we creating these days? It's a wonder they sell anything at all.

How to Win a War

Where the gov't is making its HUGE mistake is in its approach to its "war on drug disorder."

In war, when the objective of the "enemy" (perceived by the goofy gov't to be the cartels and the drug users but mostly the rich, powerful, influential cartels [whom, by the way the gov't has MADE this way due its prohibition policy) is identical with YOUR ("your" being the goofy gov't in this case) stated mission, utter failure of the campaign is the result.

In this instance, the goals and objectives of the cartels and of the gov't are the same: Keep drugs in prohibition status.

For the cartels, violent gangs and drug dealers it is a trillion-dollar yearly windfall - tax free money.

For the goofy gov't...? Well, it is certainly not their mission to create a "healthy society." That is, not when you have ZERO deaths caused by prohibition marijuana, and 3175 people killed DAILY by substances and procedures the gov't gives its full blessing and legalization to.

Otherwise, its only goal seems to be to send half-baked "messages" to its fantasy group of "teens" who in reality get ANY AND ALL of the prohibition drugs they want ANYWAY at ANY time - UNREGULATED.

No, to actually have any chance to WIN a war, you have to make sure your goal and the goal of your enemy is NOT the same goal.

Then you have a chance to begin to win.

Re-legalize. Re-regulate.

3175 People in U.S. Killed Daily vs 0

A Google search reveals the following statistics for U.S. citizens:

300,000 people killed by OBESITY (yet the gov't allows junk foods to be legally sold).

100,000 people killed by ALCOHOL (yet the gov't allows alcohol to be legally sold).

434,000 people killed by TOBACCO (yet the gov't allows tobacco to be legally sold).

225,000 people killed from iatrogenic causes (by DOCTORS) - yet the gov't allows doctors/hospitals to be legal.

OVER 100,000 people killed by legal PHARMACEUTICALS (yet the gov't allows doctors/hospitals to be legal).

The hair brained "conservative" politicians resting on their shiny desk seats claim they keep drugs illegal because they do NOT want to create an unhealthy society.

Marijuana kills ZERO people annually. Marijuana kills ZERO people daily.

3175 people killed in the U.S. DAILY by LEGAL substances vs 0 killed by marijuana (an illegal substance).

And, they call THIS a "healthy society"?

Be responsible. Re-legalize Re-regulate.

Really 2 Wars

Headlines about the Mexican "drug war" top off today with "U.S. Congressman’s Family Member Kidnapped in Juarez" tied into the "drug war."

Is that US Congressman actually surprised? It's what he asked for, being part of the "conservative" gov't stripping people of their rights to consume what they want.

It's clear the cartels are only answering the gov't call to "fight." The cartels are simply giving them the "fight" the gov't started 70 years ago. Yes, this is the one same drug "war."

But, there are actually 2 wars happening concurrently.

One fight is the gov't's "war on drug disorder" - the fight they take daily to U.S. citizens, and to drug dealers - the rich, powerful cartels.

Fight two is free people fighting for their rights to freely consume what they want. These liberties are substantiated and protected by the Constitution.

These 2 wars have nothing to do with the illegal drugs.

They are simply a misalignment of gov't policy that criminalizes a legitimate market and marketplace instead of regulating it. And, the 2 wars are about people's constitutional liberties and rights and how the gov't is suppressing them.

People will war for their freedoms, rights and liberties. They did in 1776. They are still fighting today.

That's human nature.

So, just remember, as the "wars" in Peru, in Mexico, in America and spreading to engulf the rest of the world heat up, you are BEGGING for the violence they bring to escalate. You should EXPECT it as long as you do *not* vote to fully legalize and regulate the market currently in prohibition status, which market gov't policy unrightly criminalizes against constitutional rights and freedoms.
