Seven Tips to Sell a Home in a Tough Economy

Stage it to Sell It!

As an Accredited Staging Professional Realtor in Overland Park KS, I agree that the

house must be staged before bringing it on the market. I stage all of my listings and don't charge my sellers for that service. Staging creates the right look so buyers can see themselves living there. When they can see themselves living in the home, they will buy it faster and will pay more money for it - guaranteed. Find a good Realtor who also stages. You'll be glad you did. And then keep the house in showing condition at all times.

Do-it-Yourself Staging

Staging a home for sale isn't that hard and doesn't have to cost much. In the staging course I took we were told that the first step is usually figuring out which 30% of a house's contents need to go into storage.

Having said that, however, the biggest contributions a professional stager brings to the task are fresh senses. After you've lived somewhere for a while you stop seeing and smelling it objectively. The clutter disappears from your view and that Eau de Great Dane aroma permeating the place starts to seem normal.

If you're making your staging debut selling your own home, enlist the services of a truthful and observant friend and be prepared for some surprises.
