retirees

I agree with Ron, there is no relief for people who worked, and saved, only bought house we could afford. Now because the wheeler dealers have caused economic problems, we are left hanging in the wind. I see no help for any of us.

hurting retirees

My husband and I spent years planning our retirement - we have a nice savings account and 401K - then Katrina hit and the insurance companies did not pay what it cost to rebuild our home - we used most of our savings and even used credit cards to cover costs. The IRS ruled the grant we got to help recover was income and we were forced to pay over $10,000 in federal taxes last year - $7,500 out of our savings. Our property taxes increased $1,600 this year and just got our insurance bill and another increase of $2,000 - we sold all the bonds and stocks we had been holding - we have tapped out the 401K's and now looking at loosing everything and starting over.

Were do retirees find jobs when there are hundreds fighting for each job - what a way to start retirement - loosing everything - so why are we even breathing? To pay more taxes and eat peanut butter every day? Oh yeah - don't eat the peanut butter!

stimulus package

What about us...we are over 70 and worked and saved all our life and now we are losing all our hard earned savings. Did Barack forget about us? I voted Democrat thinking he would help, but now the stinmulus package shows nothing for the ones of us that never took food stamps, medicaid or any other help from the government. 0h well, guess he figures we won't be around that much longer.

Bandits

If all you hear out in the street is people hurting why do the bandits that run banks get a bailout. Just because they miscalculated their investments to make more money for their already millionaires they in turn get more of the tax paying publics money to make their banking machines work to put them back in the business as usual situation so they can continue making their money. Big words in the investment field is great but it does not cure our problems. We saved all our lives just to enjoy a tiny bit of what millionaires enjoy every day instead all our money was stolen by their phylosiphy. What better statement "rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Reminds me of the Mexico they have two classes of people the rich and the poor. As you know they don't have a middle class and this country would like to join that concept because they are constantly trying to get the poor to not be able to afford a decent life.

I'm also one of those who listened to campaign speeches and promises about people over 65 not having to pay income taxes.

retirees economic stimulus plan

I am 67, having 3 children of my own. I worked for 41 years contrubuting to my equivilent of SSN. How is it we can provide stimulus for illegals and their children and yet my American children are non worthy of a stimulus plan.

It was enough to be gouged by state statures allowing HMO's and medical billing services to "bill by income" taking our freedom(defined as spendable cash) and given to the illegals and their children. It is aparrent article 4 section 2 guaranting privleges of citizenship have been reversed to cover illegals which the citizen must pay for. In congressional appearances of the health care industries, HMO's, hospital, their testamony before Congress admits 'billing by income' stealing from hard working fathers, denying the privleges of citizenship, making medical insurance impossible as the premiums have included the cost for illegals and illegals children. It is a shame when our government exasperates American citizens and their American children to becomes expatriots, as medical expenses are too high for the beneficiaries of illegals and their illegal children. It is a shame when American children whose parents are medium U.S. incomes must send their children to school brown bagging their lunch, finding alternate transporation to school, when illegals get free lunchs and free transportation.

There is no freedom (freedom being disposable income) for Americans who have children in their 50's and at retirement.

It is a shame that a Viet Nam veteran having children, are being prejudiced by age, when our country look the other way at millions of illegals and illegals children are favored under the statutes and the economic stimulus plan. How is it our gvt catagorizes retirees not to have children when they bring in millions of illegals? How is it we are unworthy and our children are not worthy of their citizenships privleges under the U.S. constitution?

property tax in pa

no retiree should have to pay any property tax at all.

in pa it's called school tax we don't have any kid's in school

we've paid the tax while our children were in school now by god it should stop all-together rundel is in my view is a liar.

retirees and stimulis

exactly what tax break does the retiree get out of this> What they are talking about is confusing. Do we have to pay taxes on the first $50,000 of our income?
