401k plans investing outside the stock market

These high limits certainly are powerful. Instead of hope the stock market redeems itself over the long term why not just invest in hard assets? You can do that with a 401k or IRA.

Why would "Joe" want to invest any money in a savings account or a 401(k) when the government is poised to consficate it all and redistribute it among ACORN voters?

Joe? Well, Joe, we recommend you put the $2000 you can actually afford in a mere IRA.
