John McCain Says: Let's Bail Out the Auto Industry

Back to blog

Yes we Can!!!

we should loan to the industries an amount of money that they will need and maybe if they spend it wisely they'll have enough to payback so we'll have enough money and our economy will maybe get better.

we should because they didnt really bail them out in the first place!

Maverick?

That term never did fit. At least it is now clear that he is a politician after all. After all these years in congress. His new found "change" pitch is to throw the bums out. If he gets out by being elected president, then he will have succeeded in throwing at least one of the bums out--himself.

not corporate welfare

Matt,

You are way out in left field if you think this is corporate welfare. McCain specifically said he was in favor of "loans" for the auto industry, not subsidies. Having said that, I agree with you that the free market should be allowed to solve this problem with the big three auto makers without gov't intervention. I also think the gov't missed an opportunity when they decided to bail out AIG, and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Again, let the free market perform. Sure it would be painful for many, but many shouldn't be in home ownership anyway. The vast majority of loans that are being defaulted, should never have been issued. As for McCain....go SARAH!!!

Say whatever

Mc Cain, flip-flop?

I can't believe we have him as a republican candidate.

My faith convictions lean more to republicans.......but I can't vote for this man. He has lost my confidence.

No more lies...

McCain has amply demonstrated that he will do anything, say anything and promise anything to get elected. His credibility has hit well below zero on my scale and nothing he can say at this point will convince me to ever vote for him, even if no one else is running.

I wouldn't even vote for him for dog catcher.

What's sad is I supported him in 2000. Maybe his age has caught up with him and he doesn't remember his platform or the facts and just says what he thinks will go over well. Regardless of the cause, he has proven himself unfit for any elected office, let alone the presidency.

Voting for President

Is there a third choice for President besides Ralph Nader or Ron Paul? I don’t think the car makers should get a cent from the government. The Big Three have been mismanaged for years and years unlike this financial crisis which has only been brewing for a year. They built cars that consumers didn’t want. Toyota seems to be doing well in this country, building cars people will buy. We live in a capitalistic economy and I think it should be as free a market as possible, but it’s up to the government to make sure we don’t have another Depression.
