Small Biz Owners Say 'Thanks, but No Thanks' to Economic Stimulus

Some polls on President Bush's stimulus plan have shown that most people don't plan to do much with their stimulus checks. Can we finally write the epitaph for the plan? American Management Services, small-business expert George Cloutier's organization, released a survey today that finds that 78 percent of small-business owners think their stimulus checks are "useless."

Another interesting finding—49 percent said they do not know which of the two major presidential candidates have the best policy proposals for small business. Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain take note: The small-business vote is still very much in play.

Wrong question to "business" owners

For small business owners, the better question is whether they are getting benefit of the special write-off provisions this year for purchase of fixed assets for their businesses. That was the OTHER part of the stimulus plan. It isn't all about checks to individuals. A large part went to tax benefits for those buying new equipment. What are they griping about?

Stimulus

Although I really don't believe the stimulus checks had or will have an effect on the current economic downturn, and I'm REALLY not a fan of the current administation, I do believe it was a feelgood measure for the American people. It wasn't much, but it was better than the bad news streaming out of washington now.

Re: Stimulus?

I don't know if anyone else is doing the math, but apparently Mark of FL drives a vehicle with a gas tank larger than 75 gallons.

Or else he's referring to a jet plane. (Either way, I thought I'd have a little fun).
