Vice President Dick Cheney will weather the bear market with a pension worth an estimated $132,451 per year. His pension, based on service as a Representative, Vice President, and other executive branch posts, will also be regularly adjusted for the cost of living.

Cheney, currently age 67, could accumulate a lifetime retirement benefit of $3.24 million if he reaches his predicted life expectancy of 84.4 years, according to calculations by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU). That figure does not include any possible savings Cheney accumulated in the tax-deferred federal Thrift Savings Plan, which is similar to a private-sector 401(k) plan.

Former Vice President Al Gore’s initial pension in 2001 was approximately $94,810, NTU estimates. Cost of living adjustments bring Gore’s 2009 benefit up to $120,378.

President Bush will get a $196,700 pension this year.

Wouldn't it be nice if we needed medical treatment we could have the best! What am I saying the best for some wouldn't it be nice if we could just be treated. Along with Cheney, Bush, Al and all the rest not only do they get a pension but they are taken care of for life! That's why most could care less about Universal Health Care. I know some do not like the President but he did not come from the rich and famous, he worked for what he and Michelle had. I think those in office do not want the middle class to make it! They want RICH and poor!

Back to the amount of Pension. We do not want bonuses given to those that have not earned them, maybe if the country suffered than pensions should not be given to anyone that served in office when our Country did not do well! Maybe then those in office would start doing what they are suppose to be doing working for the people not against the people and filling up the pockets of there already rich friends.

I BELIEVE THE PENSION FOR PRESIDENTS AND VICE PRESIDENTS WAS A GOOD IDEA WHEN USED SO THAT THESE PEOPLE WHO SERVED THE PEOPLE WOULD NOT BE IN POVERTY AFTER LEAVING OFFICE. BUT WHEN THE MOST WEALTHY, THE ELITE, TAKE OFFICE, THOSE WITH MORE MONEY THAN ANYONE NEEDS TAKE THESE PENSIONS IT'S IMMORAL AND SINFUL. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES ESPECIALLY AT A TIME WHEN PEOPLE IN THEIR COUNTRY ARE SUFFERING AND THE THAT MONEY IS NEEDED FOR WORKERS RETIREMENTS AND THE BASIC WELFARE OF THEIR COUNTRYMEN.

THEY'RE BEHAVIOR IN OFFICE WAS IMMORAL AND DISGRACEFUL AND THEY NEITHER DESERVE OR NEED THEIR PENSIONS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE TO PROTECT THE ORDINARY CITIZEN IN THE US FROM THE THIEVING ELITE.
