IRA Debit Cards Offer Convenience With Hefty Fees

Back to blog

Such high fees will be a huge barrier to card usage

I think the debit card access is a good one. Similar to the HSA/FSA debit card concept. But a $5 transaction fee with a $20 maintenance fee is just downright silly. You go to home depot, buy a $10 bottle of carpet cleaner for a rental and pay $5 in fees for the transaction? People won't use it. Entrust really needs to rethink their pricing. They should remember that $5 on zero transactions is still zero. Entrust you need to think this through...you are getting interchange from the merchant at 1.3%; do you really need $5 on top of that? Someone in Entrust's product development needs a reality check.
