How the Washington Mutual Takeover Will Affect Consumers

What about the credit card customers?

I for one am sickened by the way Chase has raised the interest rates for long time credit card holders, even though they had a good payment record. I watched my rate jump from 9.9% to 24.9% once they got their hands on that portion of WAMU. I am so tempted to just let the whole balance default and walk away. The greed of Chase has me in such a flustered state of mind. You would think that they would want the money to be repaid, but they have basically set up the majority to fail. Will our government do something about this atrocity? They stepped in and protected those with money on deposit, why not help those that pay the interest that pays the salaries and dividends? Like I said before, I might just walk away. They can have my belongings.... and good luck trying to sell them off in these hard times! Oh, they could have taken our retirement, but we lost all of that in the last quarter.

I am curious what will happen to my credit cards????

Larry Knowles of TX @ Nov 13, 2008 14:47:07 PM

credit cards.

What happens to credit cards owed to Wash Mutual. I am having a hard time now need help with a 6000. credit card with them. They wont help me settle it somehow. I dont get if they are bought out why they wont work with me. Its okay for them to have money problems and give millions to their CEOs but the average customer cant get into financial hardship. They are disgusting and the CEOs should go to jail for what they have done. They steal taxpayer money. All these banks the govt. keeps helping while people are still trying to figure out how to pay the same banks credit cards with high interest rates that they keep collecting on. If they can get bailed out by our govt. with our money , why cant they bail us out of debt with some kind of plan to eliminate what we owe them over time. That not right.

As a customer, Iam disgusted with high robbery from Washington Mutual, the CEO should be jailed, the charges for overdraft of #2 is $34.00. no wonder the country is in this crises, all because of these banks and their CEOS, robbing the poor.

ceo

i can not believe that wamu is giving hardworking or want to be hardworking people at severly hard time on thier loan situations when the real thief is walking out the door laughing his head off. boy oh boy george and the troll are sure making sure thier buds are takeing care of before they leave office. how come only the common every day worker gets jail time for being a thief.

patrick w. mulligan of FL @ Nov 07, 2008 23:55:33 PM

As a customer of Washington Mutual for many years, I do not believe that he, or anyone else for that matter, deserves $19.6 million for three weeks work. I doubt that he ever worked one day, much less three weeks. No even the President of the United States gets that much money!!

Greed is the ruination of this nation. We were a great nation at one time, before greed, corruption, nepotism and croneyism took over. What will become of my beloved country? I mourn for all our young (and older) men and women who have died for the freedoms we enjoy and the ideals of this country. Have they died in vain?
