JUST LEARN TO TRUST GOD AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR SOUL SALVATION RIGHT BECAUSE YOU CAN'T TAKE MONEY TO HEAVEN OR HELL BUT YOUR SOUL WILL GO TO ONE OR THE OTHER. SO ASK YOURSELF WHERE ARE YOU GOING HEAVEN OR HELL.

thanks for nothing

You journalists are also responsible for this mess. Patrick.net was forecasting this for years as you hyped up real estate and mergers. You reported nothing nor investigated nothing about what would happen. How stupid. Public Enemy used to put slogan's like "The Government's Responsible" on their album covers. If this mess had an album, I would put the phrase "The Media's Responsible" on it. Shame on you!

401K IN GENERAL

IF I WERE TO CASH IN STOCKS FROM 401K, WHAT WOULD BE THE SAFEST THING TO "ROLL IT OVER" INTO? I HAVE >10 YEARS LEFT TO RETIREMENT.

i've got a ways to go until retirement but some of my coworkers are there now, it's scary and sad to hear a 65 year old guy who's worked 60 hours a week every week for his whole life lose half his 401k inside of a year and not be able to retire, even more scary now that i am "solely responsible for my own retirement" {and everyone elses, via the social security i continue to pay and will never see} i'm thinking the money would be safer under the matress honestly

combinationalizing

Combining the largest into even larger is sometimes good, sometimes great, and sometimes no big deal. As a former broker, I am sad to see Merrill go, but as an "almost retiree" it is unsettling to see Bank of America growing when they can't seem to get a handle on their basic business-credit with compaassion for their customers. Their current level of customer service at the banking level stinks from lack of knowledgeable employees and lack of training. So my conclusion is that their service will only get worse, their lines will only get longer, and their payout rate will continue to shrink.

Fear Factor

I have a 401K with Merrill Lynch, and my initial reaction was a "depression-style" take your money and run. Watching these banks and investment companies fail certainly makes you understand the frailty surrounding your retirement.
