Dara Torres: The Oldest Olympic Swimming Medalist in History

dara

you make her sound like she's ancient. Don't you know 40 is the new 20 and 50 is the new 30. Us 40 something year olds could run circles around some of these young girls and most of us are in better shape than they are! I admire Dara - you go girl!

Thank You

Dara, I watched a special on you before the Olympics began and was so inspired. I was competing on a national level (in a different sport) before I married at 19, sadly I wasn't allowed to continue after marriage. I now have a wonderful husband who is very supportive of all I do, but due to health issues I had given up hope of becoming fit and possibly competing again someday. Your story changed all that. In the last three weeks, I have become more active, more alert and better able to deal with the health issues. So at 51, I hope to compete again someday and I actually feel its possible on the senior circuit.

Thank you for your example and sharing your story with the world. You have truly made a difference for me as well as others.

+1 on Dara never being on TV. I had to do get on google to find out that she won a silver and see her upcoming schedule. We want more Dara!

I think you are an inspiration to all women. I am 85 and still working full-time so I can appreciate what you are doing. Great going!

Dara

I'm so glad that Dara is putting some muscle out there for American women. I'm sick of the stick thin hollywood types along with obesity of McDonalds. And has anyone ever accused Madonna of steroids? She's almost 50 and looks awesome after being pregnant.

Appropriately?

Why is the "appropriate" color of her latest silver? Does the author of the post/article actually believe that her age should prevent a gold?

If not, the author should review that closing sentence...

thank you for being the inspiration to millions of women. we will not have the staff to care for us but we do have a clear picture of what can be with a little work on our parts, no matter the age.
