Investment Crunch Benefit: Quality

Scott,

Thank you for the insightful article and for your work, in general, regarding entrepreneurship. Although the total available capital and number of angel investors may have decreased in this downturn, I believe the quality of both early-stage investors and entrepreneurs is generally improved through downturns. As you know and have written about, entrepreneurship is no cake walk. In boom-times, many enter both angel investing and entrepreneurship with little or no idea of the challenges they will face or practices required to be successful. Therefore, although there may be a reduction of the total number of angel investors, and even angel capital, available, I believe the money and investors are smarter now (or forced to be). I also believe more entrepreneurs will knuckle down and create real, sustainable business models. This all bodes well for the quality of angel networks like the Keiretsu Forum and the quality of early-stage ventures available for angel investment. We are seeing this trend in our work with early stage start-ups (http://tinyurl.com/8bscfu), as we guide entrepreneurs and angels through the business and capital raise gauntlet. Keep up the great work!

Best Regards,

David

Angel Investing

Scott,

I want to thank you for writing this article. The importance of angel investors actually investing is more important than ever in US history in my opinion. More people are actively starting companies because of layoffs, changes, and finally starting the company they have always wanted to do. Here at Keiretsu Forum Northwest we've seen a surge in new investor joining our group which I can not express my joy and excitement for. And our K4 investor/members are actively investing in great quality companies today! Start-ups are the foundation our country is built upon and I commend you for getting the awareness out!
