Testimonials Key for Small Businesses Looking to Capture Word of Mouth

Thumbs Up!

Good advice, thanks for sharing.

As an entrepreneur myself who helps other business owners in startup mode, I appreciate the fact that most of your suggestions can be followed for free or with little cost.

I'm following you on Twitter, which is another great place to hear word-of-mouth testimonials.

Applies to all kinds of small businesses

Anonymous, in addition to the liquor store, there are plenty of other businesses and examples where testimonials make sense.

Tammy, thanks for your very kind words!

Grant, thank you, too. I admire your broad experience in small business.

Word of Mouth

Great advice coming from a small business owner to small business owners. More and more small businesses would be smart to listen to individuals like Becky who understand business and how to maximize their exposure and influence.

Way to go Becky and just another example of why you have such a following.

Good advice from a smart business owner and coach

Becky, I concur that testimonials are really important because there's nothing like someone other than yourself to say good things about your work.

And, after reading the first commenter's (anonymous) words, I feel prompted to write a testimonial about you, right here, right now. The earlier commenter sounds like they have an axe to grind and they're unfortunately taken the spiteful and rather cowardly way into it.

Becky, I first met you at SOBCon, the blogger's conference, last May, and you stood out from the crowd because you had smart comments about running a small business in a rural area. It's easy to tell people to network and build business allies when they live in large metropolitan areas, but there's something both special and a bit more difficult in lower-population areas. I've followed your blog and podcasts for a while, and am consistently struck by the smarts in them. I speak as a fellow small business owner -- going on 11 years now -- in my case in rural New Hampshire.

Keep up the good work.

Thank goodness for this liquor store, Becky! If it weren't for you selling us this cheap hooch to keep the underclass in our town tipsy, I just don't know how we'd get by around here. You're the best.

Is that it? Was the camera on?

A liquor store owner telling you to "capture" testimonials? Good grief.
